I haven't packed my bag yet - how late did everyone else leave it?

I'm 36 weeks on Saturday with number 2.

Tbh I'd have den it last week or this week, but been laid up with chicken pox so was quite low down my list of things to do, well after scratching and trying to keep temperature down...

Some of my friends are appalled, but I reckon next week or the week after is fine.

Nickytwotimes- almost snap, I'm 36 weeks on Sunday!

Have done a bag of baby stuff but my own bag packing isn't going quite so well. Struggling to focus on exactly what I need!! Maybe it should be my job for the weekend?

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 06/05/2010 19:47

35 weeks tomorrow here. I have collected some stuff together but haven't got as far as actually putting anything into a bag!

ASecretLemonadeDrinkerDAVE · 06/05/2010 19:47

I was in early labour still getting last minute thing! I remember being in boots, swaying in the queue! I did start the bag early though (20 ish weeks) but there was stuff still to get.

Ah, this is why I love MN.

Full of sensible people.

I plan to do it next week, honest...

I went out for the day a 2 hour drive away past my due date and just took my notes and tens machine (and my 3 other children and a friend!)

No bag packed last time and was admitted to hospital very suddenly with pre-term labour. DH had to bring my things up in a plastic bag as he 'couldn't find any proper bags.'

He tried his best but some fairly random items enclosed. He also then had to go shopping for maternity pads/paper pants etc. Don't think he's ever got over that one.

Have learned my lesson and plan to have a bag packed by 30 weeks this time.

lovechoc · 06/05/2010 20:57

I am pretty sure I packed it around 38 weeks, but could be wrong. Seems such a long time ago now..I could have left it longer because I didn't go into labour until near 42 weeks.

CrispyTheCrisp · 06/05/2010 21:00

Luckily at about 30 weeks as I went into hospital at 31 weeks and delivered at 35. Guess you are past that now

Trillian42 · 06/05/2010 21:22

I'm 36 weeks and keep putting it off! Have all the odds and ends somewhere in the spare room, but haven't got around to digging out a bag. I got a fright during the week when I had bad cramps for a couple of hours during the night - all I could think of was that I should have prepared my bag! Of course once the cramps wore off, so did the good intentions

LuluF · 06/05/2010 21:49

I refused to pack it because my MIL kept telling me I needed to from 36 weeks (she got really stressed out about it - & kept telling everyone I hadn't done it). Since then I've had 2 homebirths so I had everything to hand anyway.

strawberrycake · 07/05/2010 07:51

That's something to do today for me! (38 + 2)

dolphina78 · 07/05/2010 12:54

Hi to all that are also 36 weeks....
I haven't packed a bag yet either. I have mostly everything to go in it tho. DH keeps asking me to do it as he thinks I'm going to be early, but I'm convinced I'll be overdue and in a superstitious way I think if I pack and am 100% prepared (as much as I can be) I will then be late.....silly?!

first1 · 07/05/2010 13:42

I'm 38+4 and there's still plenty of stuff yet to be packed!

Tobermory · 07/05/2010 14:44

Having posted early yesterday evening that my bag was not packed, it is now!
Had some pains/tightenngs and was worried it may be early labour and at 11 pm was madly dashing round trying to figure out what I needed.
In the end I didn't need it but my bag is now sitting ready to go for next time!

dizzymac · 07/05/2010 14:50

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow too!!
My back is mentally packed but all the stuff is still around and about. The baby stuff is in the washer as we speak and I have a short dressing gown and slippers in the boot of my car. I think I've been putting it off as it makes everything VERY real and I still feel unprepared.
Tomorrow we are having family round to get DD1 and 2s room ready ( bunks built, wardrobe, shelves etc) and to do the baby's room ( cot etc). At some point I will have to accept that I am pregnant

FairyCakeBump · 07/05/2010 15:01

I'm 39+3 and I still haven't done it. This is my first baby though. I've STARTED to pack, but the problem is that all the comfy clothes I want to take are the ones I'm wearing, so I need to do a wash and I can't be bothered.

lucykate · 07/05/2010 15:03

i packed mine after my waters broke with dd

with ds, i didn't really bother other than stuff for him as wasn't intending to stay, gave birth, got dressed, went home!

ande · 07/05/2010 15:21

I'm 36+4 and have made a start! I too have had a couple of episodes of waking in the night with strong period type pains and had mutterings from DH "Have you packed ANYTHING yet?" I went from 5cm to 10cm in just under an hour last time, so umm, perhaps I should get a little more focused and organised!
