Hi,
I am 6weeks and 4 days pregnant and have really gone off chocolate. The look, smell or even talking about it makes me want to be sick, ( before i was pregnant i was a chocoholic lol) now i cant stand the stuff

Just for fun i was wondering if anyone else has really gone off something they previously loved?

Yes, my midwife said your body has a good system of stopping you eating what is bad for you so I can understand tea, coffee and chocolate... but what's in a carrot??!

websticks · 09/05/2010 18:39

Not only can i not stand chocolate, i cant drink tea or coffee now either in fact i have to force myself to drink anything as nothing takes my fancy. forcing myself to sip water throughout the day. Also i am tired of cooking things and then i cant eat them. oh well i shouldn't complain, having my baby will be worth it.

My body is obviously shite at filtering out what is bad for me

I am craving tea, coffee, chocolate and alcohol (obviously not indulging in the latter!)

MiniMarmite · 09/05/2010 21:17

Off - tea (normally drink at least 3 cups per day). I still get DH to make them for me make them though because I still need the 'ritual' of having one (and dunking a biccie in it).

On - Chicken and Mushroom Pot Noodle - would not usually be seen near one!

MiniMarmite · 09/05/2010 21:18

oh and the smell of peas makes me feel nauseous

mrsfollowill · 09/05/2010 21:55

this is making me smile! my first sign of being PG was going off alcohol big style. every drink tasted 'musty' so I gave up. also went off cooked meat ie ham sandwich bleurgh! but craved curry and red meat - steak etc and carbs- loved crisps and bread and cake. DS is 8 now and loves curry and meat and cake even more than me

Nothing this time, but last time it was

Gravy
Tea
Coffee
Meat
Alcohol
Butter (for a little while)

Alicetheinvisible · 09/05/2010 21:59

I did find everything tasted metallic this time though...

I went off coffee when pregnant with DS. Still don't like the smell or taste of it.

DS is now 18 years old!

mum2oneloudbaby · 10/05/2010 10:42

i'm amazed how many people have gone off meat i didn't have this last time but this time i'm really struggling with it.

most times i'm ok if i am presented with it to eat but can't cook it.

if going on the theory your body is protecting itself what on earth is wrong with meat?!

websticks · 15/05/2010 18:53

Thats funny i can eat cooked carrots either they taste funny but raw ones are ok.

I have gone off the dog, and DH!
I havn't gone off any food this time!
First time was meat, couldn't even cook it during first trimester.
I am craving chocolate like mad this time, wish I could go off it
minimarmite, I'm with you for the chicken and mushroom pot noodle.
I craved them with first. that is how I knew I was preggers this time, cause I had two in onenight, and never ever have them - I hate mushrooms!
I must have been about 2 weeks up duff then?

Rinnyx · 15/05/2010 23:03

Ham with DD and that was 8 years ago, still cant eat it or I will be sick.

This time round most meats apart from beef and I used to love cooking a Sunday roast and tucking into my fab roast chicken but now nope, I have to watch DD and DP eating my lovely roasts and I'm stuck with veg and afew roast spuds and maybe a yorkie pud, just hope after this one is born my love of meat will return

Sarahlou8 vitamin A is in carrots - I know you can't eat liver because too much vitamin A can be dangerous - I wonder if that's something to do with it.

When my aunt was pregnant, she couldn't stand the sight of Oreo packets and went off one of her skirts - she just couldn't look at at.
