Peeing in the night

I'm 8+4 and only occasionally get up to pee in the night. I keep reading on other threads that other women are getting up 2-3 times a night and I wonder if I should be worried? I am drinking a fair amount of water, and always have done. My pee doesn't look like I'm dehydrated, except on days when I have been really sick.

I am 8+1 and the same!! I haven't noticed needing the loo in the day or at night any more frequently than when I wasn't pregnant. Not a symptom I've had, but I feel a bit queasy and tired now, so I've got those ones.

I think it's ok if you don't get all the symptoms. I was told (hope this is right!) that the extra weeing at this stage is because of hormonal changes (not your uterus pushing on your bladder yet) and the hormones can affect us in different ways (e.g. some people wee more, some are tired, some feel sick, some get constipation, some get EVERYTHING....some get nothing).

Hope this sounds right?!

Yes, thanks, that's reassuring. I've been nauseous as hell, and very tired, so maybe those are enough symptoms for now

Don't be worried, you are lucky, normal either way...

water takes about an hour to pass through your system so if you dont drink anything an hour or 2 before going to bed and pee right before you go to bed then in therory you shouldnt have to get up in the night.

...unless your me and you wake up desprate for the toilet so desprate you cant move only to struggle to squeese a drop out

be greatfull you dont have to get up 2+ times in the night

MamaMary · 06/05/2010 16:46

In my first trimester I didn't have to go any more than normal during the night (typically, once). Now I'm 27 weeks and I'm going about three times in the night. So for me, the having-to-pee all the time happened later on in the pregnancy.. Hope, for your sake, you'll stay as you are though

I'm 31 weeks almost and up around 4 times during the night to pee. Vicious cycle though becaue I get a dry mouth so I take a sip of water, then pee then need to get up again a few hours later to pee again. Ugh. It's exhausting!!

blondieminx · 06/05/2010 23:27

the peeing thing is like morning sickness in that it affects some people really badly and others hardly at all - just depends on how YOU happen to carry a baby.

And enjoy a whole nights sleep while you can before you get so big you need an assortment of pillows to get even vaguely comfy! ;-)

dd1 was breech from 20 weeks and was kicking my bladder, was such a nightmare!

Wow... I guess I'm pretty lucky! I didn't need to get up overnight to use the bathroom for the first or second trimesters. Now I'm in the third (29 weeks) I'm typically only getting up once in the night... Though I can have nights (like last night!) where I can make it all the way through just fine.

Part of that is that I probably don't drink as much as I ought to... I do however eat lots of fresh fruit, so get a lot of liquid intake that way. Not sure if that's an influence at all.

strawberrycake · 07/05/2010 07:49

I'm 38 weeks and have only just started on some nights getting up once in the night. Didn't at all before this. I think it's just to do with the shape you are. I choose to just be gratful, I;ve had enouh sickness to make up for it!

Cosmosis · 07/05/2010 18:21

I'm 24 weeks and as long as I wee just before bed, I'm still not getting up to wee in the night - I'm weeing plenty int he day though!

DuelingFanjo · 07/05/2010 19:01

I'm 8 + 2 and am getting up twice in the night at about half one and 4 am.

I do try to drink a lot in the day but tend not to just before bed.

I haven't had any morning sickness or extreme tiredness though.

Pepsiginn · 07/05/2010 19:28

I've only got up once in the night to wee throughout my pregnancy - and am currently 22 weeks.
As long as your getting enough hydration during your average day - don't worry!
