Obaby Zezu pramette... anyone?

Ii have put this in the pushchairs section, but thought I would put it here as well as this board is much busier!)

I am thinking of getting the obaby Zezu pramette as I really want a proper pram with a parent facing option in buggy mode (this is vital for me) but, as I live in a small flat, I would prefer to avoid a separate carrycot that I would have store.

On other websites (mothercare, kiddicare etc) the Obaby receives nothing but good reviews but it doesn't seem to be reviewed at all in the reviews section here on Mumsnet.

Does anyone have any views?

I know that you are all likely to say - go for the Bugaboo Cam/Bee etc instead but the reality is that I can't afford those brands..

The Obaby costs £249, which I can afford. i am also considering stretching to the Mamas and Papas Sola with carrycot but then I have the carry cot storgae problem again!

Thanks!

i have it. I havent used it yet though- not given birth yet. I love it. Can buy car seat to put on top too. Easy to fold. Kiddicare do a good deal on it with rain cover and newborn liner inc. Very stylish too i thought sorry im not very helpful.

I have it and love it. It does take up a massive amount of room in the boot of our car but this seems to be the case no matter which pram/pushchair you get! If you're planning on using it as an actual carrycot for night sleeping then invest in a proper mattress for it as it isn't suitable otherwise.

I also have the car seat - it works fine, it's a car seat, what can I say?

You might find a better deal on the package if you phone round independent retailers (there's a list on the O'Baby website). I got mine from an independent for £179, everything included apart from the car seat.

Thanks AKMD. Can I just ask - how old is your DC now? I am just wondering whether the pushchair mode will last until the baby is 2 and half / three ish, as its likely to be tall!

I am 5'11" and DH is 6' - do you consider that the handle will go tall enough for us?

Sorry to bombard you with questions!!

Hi legallyblond have you looked at the mamas and papas pliko pramette? It doesn't parent face in pushchair mode, only in pram mode but is a great pram and pushchair and the handles have 2 heights. WE are 5'10 and 6' and found it fine. Our dc didn't go in the pushchair much after age 2(but used it until age 3) but the way they sit in it is very nice and upright and they are not dragged into a sleeping position by the harness.

Bump! Do you need a specific mattress for this, or any moses basket mattress - nowhere seems to stock mattresses for it!

Hey! I have it! I have it in black/lime. I bought it after my hubby bought the obaby car seat on its own - baby came 5wks early so we had nothing prepared. I didn't view it at a store first - just wanted a travel system so had to be compatible with the car seat, s took the plunge and bought it online. Tell u what - I wasn't disappointed!! It looks fab and is so smooth and easy to push - even with one hand! It was so easy to assemble and putting the car seat on and off and changing between pram mode and pushchair is a doddle! I'll be totally honest - so many peopke have commented on how stylish and sophisticated it looks- and thats just on walks to the park and to the docs and stuff!!

I'm gona have to sell mine tho - only had it for 5mnths tho- so not happy at all. we're moving aborad so best thing is to get a stroller for the tijme being and once we're settled, get another one! I could set up a thread on the sell/wanted page if u think u may be interesed in buying, do it the right way...or give u my email address. Its pretty much still new - as have been using it with the car seat. But a fab system!

I have it and love it. I haven't got a mattress in with mine DS either wears a pramsuit or I put my own thick fleece liner in.
It was one of the few prams that fit in my bora boot.

cowboylover · 25/01/2011 17:36

I have seen it and felt that the seat was very low and seamed miles away especially for DH who is 6'4"

With the Sola I think the seat unit is suitable from birth so maybe you would not need the carrycot at all. I have only heard good things about them x

AKMD · 26/01/2011 09:22

Ooo, this is an old one - sorry I missed the reply question!

DS is now 11 months and has still has oodles of room. Most of my mummy friends have switched to Maclaren-type umbrella buggies but I'm still happy with the Zezu. The handle adjusts really well so it's fine for my tall husband, although as another poster has said, it does tend to make the pram look quite far down!
