Do you think hyperemisis can be made worse by stress?

some days i am fine - but having lots of hassle from work and they days that this happens i am so ill - the tablets make me drowsy and i cant concentrate on them

have been off work 7 weeks

should be going back today - feel really low and upset and the nausea is so bad i have to lie down!

am i imagining this?
thanks in advance xx

You are not imagining it. It does get a LOT worse with stress. Can you get signed off work for more time?

storminabuttercup · 04/05/2010 10:09

not sure - i cant get to the docs today - but i have been told i have to stay and 'work from home' today (as i said lots of stress and hassle from work)

i feel at a loss - i dont know why i get upset all the time - this is my first (had miscarriage last year)

could make an appt tomorrow and see what the doc says - they have been very good until now - which is lucky as i have only seen my midwife once (I'm 24 weeks)

It's not surprising you are feeling low.

It's bloody awful both physically and mentally, and being stuck at home for weeks on end just adds to the feeling of isolation and misery IME.

HG is linked to AND, unsurprisingly, so do keep an eye out for signs of depression and ask for medical help if you need it.

I do feel for you.

I would get to your doc tomorrow if you can. Don't forget a GP can sign you off retrospectively if necessary (i.e. s/he can sign you off tomorrow for today).

Take care of yourself.

thank you - you are so kind to help

through this i have lost my position at work and i'm being treat like i have done something wrong - i dont think that being on sick even longer is helping at all - but i have my baby to think about

thanks again x

No worries. Been there/still there myself, this is my 2nd time now!
Do you think it would help to give your work some info about HG so they can see you're suffering from something very serious and not just being pathetic. I don't know if it has helped but I sent my boss this link.
You're right - you need to think about your health and your baby's health first so PLEASE try not to stress and feel guilty about missing work (I made myself so much worse last time round by doing this, determined to take my own advice this time!).

storminabuttercup if you are not well enough to work then please don't try, you just use up energy that you need and make the sickness worse. You and the baby come first and you should have sympathy and not stress.
I had 5 months off with my last preg for chronic fatigue and have had 5 so far for HG and unless it improves then I won't be going back in a hurry.
i haven't any fresh advice for you but know exactly how you feel, it's boring, depressing and lonely being at home feeling rough, however there are lots of nice people on here to cheer you up!

wanted to say thanks for all advice on here - i did go back to work on the 5th - then on wednesday this week i passed out at work and got some cramping pains in my bump - after 6 hours in the maternity ward i was told i have a water infection, slightly high blood pressure and signs of infection in my blood (this was the bit that worried me) i'm now back at home laying on the sofa doing nothing!

xxx

Oh no storminabuttercup, sorry you're so poorly. Hope you can get some rest now and everything starts improving soon. Take care of yourself.

storminabuttercup · 14/05/2010 19:36
