Hi everyone

I'm due to have my second baby by ELCS this week and am wondering what to do about my older one visiting the hospital. She's almost two and a half and quite clingy so will def but upset to leave me at the end of the visit. But going away for two or three days and just reappearing with a baby doesn't seem like a good idea to me! Any tips and advice on what has worked well for second (third, fourth, fifth...) time parents would be great.

DS was 2.9 when I had DD by ELCS. I was worried that he would be upset by visiting me in the hospital then having to leave me there with the new baby while he went home. I worried that he would think she had taken me away from him or that I was leaving him to be with her.

For this reason, he didn't visit me at all in hospital. DH, new DD and I picked him up from the GP's where he'd been staying once we were discharged and we all went home together. He got to help bring his new sister home which made him feel included.

Plus, he'd been having a great time for 3 days at his GP's and hadn't missed me at all!!
