i'm hoping so...i feel really yuk,and have vomited.im 40+4 and they want to induce me on sunday.

i tried everything yesterday...loads of raspberyy leaf tea (eyw) a long walk (when i really wanted to curl up on sofa!) and even sex...yes,i am that desperate.

had resigned myself to the fact that the baby doesn't want to come out..but maybe this a sign?

did anyone throw up before contractions started?

yes, (i didn't happen with me), i know a few people who vomited just before labour started. Good luck xx

Aubergines · 02/05/2010 10:23

I haven't heard of it as a sign of labour but the action of vomiting can induce labour so it may actually help.

Good luck!

I was always sick when I went into transition but not at the start.

motherbeyond · 02/05/2010 10:27

yes orm i'm usually sick at some point during labour (could be the gas and air) but never, before.

just wondering if this could be your body cleansing itself in prep. probably clutching at straws?

cheers stayfrosty...yes,i'm hoping it's like a cleansing thing..but i've had that many false starts over the last 2 weeks,it's hard to believe anything's going to happen.

there's a lot of pressure isn't there? friends and family phoning and texting all the time..neighbours asking for news!!you some how end up feeling responsible for keeping everyone waiting!

i never thought i'd be wishing sheer agony on myself..but bring it on!!

I would say Yes!

Having been for a lovely meal in a restaurant started having regular twinges while there, got home and promptly threw everything up!

Same as having a clear out the other end in my opinion!

Had DS2 about 12 hours later!

Good luck x

Yes - I woke up at 4am 12 days overdue, threw up 4 times (I normally never vomit) and contractions started within 5 minutes. My waters had gone the day before but there were no other signs of anything happening otherwise.

Good luck!

motherbeyond · 03/05/2010 12:31

well,no puking today...and no baby either!

i frickin' hope so! i think it wouldn't be so bad if i hadn't had the build up.
i had really bad sciatica the last 6 weeks so could only shuffle, they wanted to induce me at 38 weeks.i said no,but agreed to a sweep.
then had a show..so thought baby will be here in a few days...nada

then thought i was in labour as had tummy ache for a week...it was a uti

had another sweep and another show...nowt

then there was the sickness...zip

so now i have just given up,it seems to have been brewing for a month.
unfortunately,i think come sunday i'm going to have to succumb to the induction

Good luck motherbeyond.

motherbeyond · 04/05/2010 10:08

thanks orm,that's kind of you.
i've just rung ante natal and they've agreed another sweep for tomorrow to see if we can get things going before sunday.
my friend suggested i lay a trail of chocolate buttons down my thigh to try and coax it out!

Yes i threw my guts up about 48 hours before going into labour with dd, no apparent trigger (ie didn't have stomach bug or food poisoning). Just the one bout of vomiting then felt fine, then labour a couple of days later.

I was 8 days over with dd and 14 days over with ds!! Went into spontaneous labour both times, good luck!

motherbeyond · 04/05/2010 11:59

spontaneuos labour sounding good to me!am scared of induction and all the problems it can bring.

i think the throwing up must have been stress related, coz it's been a few days since that now.was just hoping it was another 'sign'!

going in for my 3rd sweep in an hour,so hopefully that will kick something off! am at the stage now where i'm so fed up it's over-riding my fear of induction and i might say, fuck it,book me in for friday....bum (i obviously won't say 'fuck it' to the midwife btw..i am a laydee!)

thanks stayfrosty that sounds like one of the more positive experiences of in induction i've heard.usually all about pain and epidurals...don't fancy either! also i'm worried about leaving my other dc's.mum will have to stay over night etc i just don't like to inconvenience people.suppose not much choice
