Just come back from holiday & tested again (no period, but tests had shown BFN twice) & it's shown a faint but definate BFP. I've just come off the pill & thought that it was my cycle being a bit odd whilst it settled down. I've been drinking & smoking. What have I done?? AF was due on the 14th. If I am pregnant, how will I know that everything's OK? Can't believe I've been so silly.

Think it's pretty normal to drink etc before bfp.

If it wasn't, anybody ttc or of childbearing age would be tee total.

I did exact same thing, GP dismissed it with a wave of the hand.

chances are everything is fine, loads of people drink and smoke before they find out they are pregnant, myself included. In fact people do a lot worse than that and their babies are fine. Think back 40 years and woman did both throughout their pregnancies as they didn't knoe any better. If it really winds you up you could book a private scan to help put your mind at rest

Thank you both. Made me feel a bit less panicked. When do you think I should see the Doctor? (presuming I am in fact pregnant)

I got PG on honeymoon, I think, - I drank everyday for 2-3 weeks.... Got married Mid Sept and DS was born mid May (but early, El CS) so for the first couple of weeks, I think I was pretty sozzled!!

Doesn't seem to have done him any harm!

Congratulations, by the way!!

if you got a faint positive, then you are pregnant, congrats!
Do NOT worry. It was explained to me that your baby gets NO nutrients from you until well after it has implanted, so prob a week or two after your period was due.
My mum drank wine throughout her pregnancies, and she was told to eat a pound of meat A DAY, which they'd never tell you to do now. Yet my sister and I are fine.

You just have to do what you can from now on. and remember, so many people eat nothing for weeks due to morning sickness, and the baby is still perfect.

Thanks Harimo, t'was our honeymoon too! For some reason I can't quite believe it yet - maybe a few more BFPs!
