VBAC with a hip replacement?

Does anyone know anything about having VBAC with a hip replacement?

Please help - would really like to know if I should just give up on wanting a natural delivery or not?

I don't know if it depends on the individual situation. My exSIL was very, very seriously advised against a vaginal delivery. She has had two cs.

Do you know why she was seriously advised against it?

from what I've read it depends on the flexibility and ability to open legs wide enough to give birth. My Ortho surgeon says it shouldn't be a problem - but gynae have told another friend that if there's been any surgery in pelvic / hip area they'll recomment a CS...

I'm very flexible and you wouldn't know I'd had a hip replacement to the point where I have to tell medical prefessionals to be careful in case they are trying to rotate the hip during an exam.....

sheesh who knows - I'm confused!!

Well if your orthapaedic surgeon says it's okay then I'd trust him.

My SIL didn't really have that much time between the replacement op and getting pg and I know that was a factor. I think why you've had the op in the first place may be relevant too from what SIL's surgeon said.
