I'm 36 weeks and for most of the day yesterday i was getting cramping in back and lower tummy. It eased of when i went to bad lastnight. But this morning i'm feeling it all again. I phoned hosiptal lastnight and she said to phone if got worse. I wouldn't say they are more painful. Any help or advice? Could it just be back pain?

Thanks everyone

Where abouts in your tummy is it? Have you lost any waters or had a show?

MrsCraig87 · 27/04/2010 12:27

No water or had show. Around where you get period cramps

Hmm, it could be starting. Do they feel like Braxton Hicks or more insistent/edgy?

Can you ring your midwife and try to get an appt for this afternoon, just to get it checked out?

My midwife is a nighmare to get hold of. i could go to the hospital but have noone to watch my daughter. I'm not scared if it is labour just more concerned if he was born at 36 weeks

Well I would definitely try and get hold of your midwife first. If it progresses contact the hospital, but it could be nothing, or the baby engaging, or just regular backache.

I'm sure if the baby was born at 36weeks it will be fine, its passed all the major danger points.

Good luck!

It could be starting. Unlikely just to be back pain if in lower tummy too. If it is labour it could just be the very early stages where the cervix starts effacing (or thinning/shortening) I had contractions throughout this which weren't painful but slightly uncomfortable. Keep an eye on them and if you are in any doubt contact your midwife or ring labour ward. Don't be frightened at being a pest. You will know when they start properly but if they are the beginnings of contractions you will feel the pain and then your whole bump will tighten for a while.

The best of luck. Like Clucky says if this is it you will be fine at 36 weeks.

Could it be BHs? Mine are much more uncomfortable this time round, they have been quite painful at some points. If they are getting worse or coming more frequently then get yourself to the hospital. Is there anyone who can look after your DD for you?

No chance you have a UTI? V common at the end and cause lower back and period type pains.

MrsCraig87 · 27/04/2010 14:56

I had a UTI the other week and got antibiotics for it so i really do not think it is that

Some antibiotics do not work on some infections. I had one that wouldn't respond to the first antibiotic prescribed and so had to have another one. Only way I knew it hadn't worked was lower back pain and period type pains.

Get it checked just incase.
