Hi

We want to buy our car seat this week but can not decide which one to go for. We know we want a maxicosi but confused about whether to go for a cabriofix or to splash out and go for their new model the pebble. But can not find much info about their new one whereas lots of recommendations for the cabriofix.

What have other people gone for and why?

Thanks

We went for the cabriofix for our first one (due in July) as we wanted one with an isofix base. The only reason we were even considering pebble was the ability to attach the next size carseat (pearl, I think) on the same isofix. In the end we decided that as we are intending to have another child not too long after there's not much point in paying more for the ability to attach two seats if we're going to need another base for the next child anyway.

don't know anything about the pebble but we did use the cabriofix for dd and will be using it again for the bump.

it's very very easy to use we were swapping it between 4 cars and it went into each one without any hassle and being able to just pop the car seat in and out again is a lifesaver.

Sounds like a good idea that you can fit the next sized seat into it however bear in mind that you won't pop the car seat in and out with baby in it the way you do in the first seat so if moving it between cars you will have 2 things to move rather than just 1 isofix seat. Also, look at the weight of the next car seat up some of them can be very heavy and a big lump to move around.

The cabriofix seat fits on the Pebble and pearl base (familyfix) so we bought the cabriofix seat as it was cheaper and the familyfix base and will get the pearl seat later on.

Haven't used it yet though

Thanks Ladies

BuongiornoP - I was wondering if that was the case and think we will do what you have done, seems sensible.

Hi,

We have bought neither yet but have looked into it. From what the lady at John Lewis was telling me the Pebble is basically the updated version of the Cabriofix! (I have no idea about them fitting onto bases but I know that they both fit on the buggy that we like!)
Its little improvements like - on the Cabriofix you have to press the buttons on both the sides at the same time to move the handle and lift off a buggy but on the Pebble you can do it one at a time so you can do it one handed.
Hope that helps.

Apparently the adaptors for the pebble and the bugaboo cameleon don't really work properly so if you have one of those you would be better with the cabriofix.
