hi

im 34 weeks pregnant and my son had a heat type rash for a few days last week on his back. that went and this morning he woke with cheeks that look like he's been slapped. he has no other symptoms although he had a bit of a cold a couple of weeks ago.

i know rhere isnt much i can do for him except give paracetamol etc if it is slapped cheek disease but what im worried about is the baby that im carrying.

am i at risk at 34 weeks? everything i seem to find on the internet mentions up to 20 weeks increased risk of miscarriage. other sites say about developing anaemia but im not sure where i stand.

ive got a midwife appointment tomorrow so will double check then if he still has a rash or doesnt seem well but wondered if anyone has any definite advice regarding this.

im in agony with spd at the moment so dont want to have to make extra doctors visits unless necessary.

fingers crossed it isnt that but if it is im hoping there wont be any complications for the baby im carrying.

any advice is gratefully received.

thank you

Hi there
Sorry I have no idea - but didn't want your post unanswered.
Can you try NHS direct before your appt tomorrow?

Only just found this post, how did you get on? My daughter was diagnosed with the parvo virus on Friday and I have since also had all of the symptoms. I am currently waiting for blood test results and my midwife told me that I will have to be refered to an obstetrition and scanned and monitored regularly if it comes back positive. I sailed through my pregnancy and delivery with my daughter so the slightest thought that anything could be wrong is quite scary! No one I know has been through it so can't reassure me either!

im still waiting for the bloodtest results too. takes longer aparently as it isnt a routine bloodtest.doesnt stop us worrying does it!

baby is now breech at 35+3 and got consultant today to decide it c section or induction due to size and previous problems during delivery.not looking forward to it, im scared of going to be induced then she's breech still and them sending me home to go back another day for section.dont know what the usual procedure is.i just cant believe that after all this time being head down she is now breech.i reckon they got it wrong to start with. it was a growth scan yesterday that showed she is breech.

let me know how you get on with your results etc.wish me luck today

I am pretty sure that it is only an issue up to 19 weeks of pregnancy but check with your midwife of course. Hope everything is ok.
