Maternity clothes shops in London

Im going to London tomorrow, its to visit family in hospital but was hoping to get somer time outside visiting hours to 'nip' to a maternity shop (or two) if possible. Id quite like to head to a boutique but not hideously pricey or head to major store on Sunday like topshop or gap to get maternity clothes that they just dont stock here in Manchster. I would love to be able to buy something NOT online and try it on before buying. Thinking summer gear, smart casual.

Am I wrong that there is more choice in the great capital?!

Any suggestions anyone?

there is a massive topshop on oxford circus, with a mamas and papas and h&m all within 2 minutes walk. havent bought maternity clothes in the last 5 years, but those 3 are probably your best bet.

The Mamas and papas at the top of Regent Street (near Topshop as helenaCC says)has got quite a good range.Bit pricey but worth it if if you're going to have more than one DC especially. There is a big Debenhams on Oxford Street but the only maternity range there is Red Herring Maternity, although it's a small range they do some nice stuff.

I bought most of my stuff online as I thought the amount of stuff in the shops was crap!

I can recommend a small boutique called Pretty Pregnant, I've used the stores on the Kings Road and in Clapham and bought a few items like jeans and found them particularly helpful with maternity & nursing bra fitting. Their website is www.prettypregnant.co.uk

The Gap opposite Topshop on Oxford Street stocks maternity at the back of their women's section downstairs. Not sure if Zara still do maternity - they used to have it at the one on Oxford Street sort of opposite Debenhams/House of Fraser I think....

Also Red Herring (is that what it's called?) in Debenhams on Oxford St isn't bad.

Gap's maternity range isn't bad either - their flagship store is next to Selfridges on Oxford St

I went shopping for maternity clothes on Oxford St yesterday and would recommend Mamas and Papas, Red Herring in Debenhams. I thought range in Gap was quite small but some nice things. I was v disappointed with maternity clothes in Top Shop but I was looking for jeans and pregnant or not you need to have stick thin legs to shops for jeans in Top Shop. I did manage to buy quite a few non maternity clothes in Top Shop that because of style I have been wearing as maternity.

Good Luck

wow thank you for your responses. Im sat on the train now, sadly more worried about my FIL in hospital but DH has said we can shop on Monday before we head home. Sounds like if I wanted to zoom to one place Oxford St would be it. We have these stores in Manchester but the range is a bit rubbish. Alternatively Ill surf pretty pregnant now see if I like to look of it and maybe nip there today. Is nice to have guidance from those in the know.

Have a look at H and M (non maternity) Garden collection. I have 2 smocked dresses that look great with leggings and were really cheap. They have sold out of these now near me (I know as all my non pg friends want them too).
