Strange Question, can dogs sense labour coming???

Just a thought, as my mums dog would not leave me alone today!

Normally, she may come and sit by my feet but thats it, today she kept following me, was very calm (she is just coming up to 1yr and can be very giddy!)

She also seemed to want a 'cuddle', jumped gently up at my side but was careful and kept resting her head on my tummy!

37 weeks tommorow with DC3, have been getting strong BH, but no other signs!

Anyone experienced anything similar, or did I just smell like dog food!!!

didnt have a dog when i went into labour last time, but i always know i'm pg when my dog starts stalking me.

most people have ms as a early pg symptom, i have a dog that sleeps under my bed

do, i cant say if you will go into labour or not but maybe the dog is sensing you have a lot going on and wants to look after you?

think thats what mine is doing.

good luck whenever you go into labour!

Hi mumatron!

She is very intelligent, and I was feeling more tired/hormonal than usual!

So it was probably that, if I go into labour though I will let you know!

Could be a useful indicator esp with your sensitive doggy!

well it certainly sounds like a lovely dog.

my dog could save me a fortune on pee sticks!

hope you have your lo soon.

She is!

She is a rescue dog, my mum has put a lot of time into training her!

I'm not in any rush, I love being pregnant!

Just hope I dont go too overdue as hoping for a homebirth!

Your dog is probably more reliable than some tests on offer!

One of our dogs who normally spends every evening curled up in hubbys lap has switched to mine since I've been pregnant. As soon as I sit on the sofa he appears as if from no where onto my lap. I'm sure he must know something is going on. Not sure how he'll react when it really starts kicking and he's getting booted!!!

I've read that dogs can be trained to detect when a diabetic is having a hypo and to detect cancer so I think what is happening is she's smelling and reacting hormone changes.

Sounds like there is definately something in it then!

Now, if only I could borrow her until my due date, it may take all the guess work out as to if I am in labour, or not!!!

Not sure my mum would part with her for my 'scientific research' though!

Good luck with all your pregnancies! x

Woof!

hi, i noticed this yesterday with my king charles, she can sometimes be a follower but will usually follow whoever has the best offer. i.e food/toys. but now she follows me everwhere and if i manage to lose her, she will find me!!!. also is barking a lot more at strange noises. i also think its their smell.
