This has probably already been asked, but I am really struggling with diarrohea at the moment and I have an exam tomorrow and really need to shift it.

Is imodium a yes or a no in pregnancy, if a no is there anything I can take?

I am 13 weeks today.

Thank you in advance for your advice ladies.

Hi,

I was told no by the Doc, but she just kind of thought about it and said that, don't think she really knew.

Do you know what's causing the problem? I have IBS and find a small amount of strong alcohol eg. vodka, helps, less than a shot or peppermint tea.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

The general advice is not to take it. Best thing to do is phone the local midwife's or NHS24 and ask them. A wee word of warning though...I had really bad diarrohea at the end of last week and didn't want to risk taking anything, I was on the toilet all night and felt fine by the next morning. I'd passed the bug onto my DH and and he took Imodium and although the diarrohea stopped he was left with severe stomach cramps for a couple of days and was really ill. It's up to you but I'd probably wait and see if the diarrohea had stopped by morning as you might get away without taking anything. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the advice.

It started last night, and to be honest if I didn't have the exam I wouldn't be overly bothered about taking anything for it, I have IBS and have had pancreatitis in the past so diarrohea is relatively normal for me. However with DD I was clogged up so didn't suffer with it with her, only time I got it was just before labour.

Think I will grin and bare it and just hope it has eased by tomorrow afternoon, or it will be an interesting exam .
