Update on new Birthing Centre-Lewisham..

Hi, just thought I'd post an update about the MLU as there are a few of us waiting for information about it.

I saw my midwife today and she says they have been told that MLU is now due to open on the 10th of May (but is not 100% sure that it will definitely open on the day). Apparently they are still trying to recruit staff and that's what has caused the delay.

Good luck to those who will get to use it, I think I'm going to give birth before that date

Went for consultation at birth centre on Tuesday and was told it will open on Monday 10th May at 8am. I was told reason for delay is due to them being told they couldn't open before the general election, I also had previously been told the delay was due to the general election by my midwife. Hoping I get to use it due dat is 8th so legs firmly crossed for the weekend.

I think I read the centre had been officially opened by a Gov Minister recently...

Wonder if any Mumsnetters have given birth there yet?

I am due to give birth at end of July, hopefully at this Midwife led unit.

I'm due in December and have just been referred to the Birthing Centre at Lewisham.

Just wondering if anyone has any experiences to share?
