Hello, after taking a long break from ttc(well 6 months!) , after my previous miscarriages, i am now pregnant again. had a scan today, and fetal pole, and both sacs were there and a heart beat, but baby measuring 3.1mm. just wondered if this was right for 5+5 weeks pregnant?

thanks all!!!

congratulations!

My maternity notes don't give the size for earlier than 6+0 wks, which is 4mm. But since at that stage the growth seems to be around 2mm every 3 days (e.g. 6mm at 6+3, 8mm at 6+6), 3.1mm sounds like it could be about right for 5+5.

Presumably they would have said if the size was a concern?

well i have to go back for another scan next week, so was wondering whether this was the cause for concern, or whether its a precaution because of previous miscarriage.

Try calling to ask.

It's good that they are taking your previous history seriously and offering you extra scans this time.

Try not to worry about it in the meantime (easier said than done, I know!). Goodl uck.

Hello

Glad to find this thread - so thanks for starting it... I am really worried today too - I had a scan yesterday at 7+6 and I measured 10mm - which I think is too small - Can anyone help?

Thanks xx

Hi Amarilis, just to say at my last scan, which was dated at 7+1 (but I think was 7+3 based on ovulation), the embryo measured 11mm - sounds like if we're in the same ballpark?

rachxx · 28/04/2010 14:24

had another can today at 6+5 and my measurements were 8.7mm, so baby ha def grown, which is so reasurring,so amarilis that sounds about right, if your're a week ahead of me and measured that xx

Amarilis I had a scan at 7+4 (April 23rd) and measured 10 mm too... consultant said that I may have ovulated a bit later than thought got very worried first but read that they can't be very accurate at this stage. I am not worried anymore...

PJen - Thanks for responding! After my 10mm measurement on that Tuesday at 7+4, I had a big bleed on the following Thursday (8+1), but low and behold, I had a scan on the Friday and all was fine and I measured 16.1 - that means it grew 6.1mm in 3 days, and was right measurement for 8+2.
