Questions, questions...!

I have two v specific questions which I can't seem to find the answer to:

  1. I am 17+2 with my first pg... when can I realistically expect to feel the baby? I keep thinking I have but then I (correctly I think!) put it down to wind!
  1. I started off as bra size 34C ish (sometimes 32C instead, occasionally a B if I dropped a couple of lbs randomly!) and am now wearing a 32E that I just had to buy as nothing else fit! (its an underwired cheapo from H&M, so not ideal). When will my boobs stop growing and when should I start buying nursing bras? I really don't want to waste the money on "inbetween" sizes if I don't have to... If I go to, say, John Lewis, will they be able to "predict" the nursing size I will end up being (apart obviously from the few days of engorgement when the milk comes in post-birth - my Mum tells me wearing a bra then will be impossible anyway!)?

Any advice much appreciated!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

You'll probably feel the baby move in the next week or so. It really does feel like fluttering inside you.

Re: bras - I think they don't advise wearing underwired bras in pregnancy. You may have to wear soft bras - iirc my breast size settled down in the second trimester and then grew again in the final one. You can get measured for nursing bras in the last month of pregnancy.

I felt DD move at about 22 weeks, but have been feeling this one since 14 weeks.

My boobs grew in trimesters 1 and 3 last time if that helps. I got maternity bra's from M&S 2 in a pack, 1 black, 1 White and they were fairly cheap

I bought nursing bra's throughout my pregnancy as I gradually increased. I then used all of them in reverse order as my boobs got smaller over 10 months of feeding DD. So I would say that buying non-nursing bra's is a waste of money! However I did have to decrease the size of the bands on some by adding extra hooks.

Re your baby moving, lots of people I knew said it felt like fluttering but for me it was like a bubble bursting. It's different to wind as that can feel like lots of bubbles bursting but my first time at 15 weeks - (very early for first I think) felt like one bubble popping, then one more a minute later. Didn't feel anything else for another week. I think about 22/24 weeks is when you can properly feel them.

You might feel something really soon. I have already just started to feel movement at 17 weeks, with my first. I did have a bit of fluttering, but more of the bubbles popping feeling that Mimi describes, just below the abdominal wall, very low down in my belly. On a couple of a occasions I've also had a sudden squirmy feeling like something has just flipped a little somersault down there. It is a bit like wind, except that for me wind usually makes a gurgly sound (which the baby doesn't!) and/or eventually works its way out ! I'm most likely to notice movement when I've been lying in still in bed at night reading for a little while- maybe cause it's very subtle and I notice it more then, or maybe cause that's when baby gets active...

There's another good thread on here about bras called just 'Bras', I think...
