Hi I'm 22yrs old and 12w3d preg. I went for my 12 week scan yesterday and was told my baby had Tricuspid regurgitation. basically it means my baby has a leak in its heart!the sono, said it was a marker for chromosonal problems, but am young and sometimes these things dissapper. My chances before the scan were 1/1048 and went down to 1/111 based on the scan alone. I am now waiting for a phone call to tell me my chances combined with my blood test. She was on about ammino or cvs. I am now an emotional wreck, although all other aspects of baby's health were normal eg. brain, fluid in neck, spine etc. i am petrified! I was wondering if any other women have had any problems at thier 12week scan and the outcomes.

I do not know anything about this sorry. Try stay positive and healthy for the baby. Make sure the doctors explain eerything to you and if not make sure you get the answers you need & want. Good Luck x

I hope all goes well Zara. I was under the impression that a 12 week scan is for dating purposes and that it is too early to tell of any abnormalities. As above, pester your doctors to get all the information and support you need.

hi my mum said this aswell, that it was early but the sono, said it was pretty clear there was a leak. also my hospital is currently linked with kings college hospital so apparently this means the sono's are pretty good at detecting things. Have tried in vain to find info about this condition, as it is almost always linked with other heart problems(which are'nt present) or is linked with other 'soft markers' in pregnancy. thanks for comments tho xx

Sorry - I have no knowledge of this, although know 2 other couples who had diagnoses of their babies' heart conditions at the 12 week scan.

They should give you a leaflet about

www.arc-uk.org/ who are the Antenatal Results and Choices organisation who will be able to talk you through the results, what this means, and how you might like to proceed from here.

I hope everything turns out well.
