I had a d and c for retained products Sunday Baby now 13 days old. After minimal bleeding yesterday there's quite a lot today and I'm very sore and tender and crampy. I also had endometritis and am on antibiotics fir that. Gp saw me today and was tempted to send me into hospitalfor review but we agreed to monitor overnight as I can't face it and my 2 yr old us all upset about mummy in hospital. Will see how things go tomorrow.

Anyone else had a d and c? What's your blood loss and pain like after? What's normal??

I have never had a d and c, have suffered from endometreosis in the past but mine was treated with provera tablets to stop periods , did they say why they are treating you with antibiotics seems an odd thing to do as it's not an infection.

Not relevant sorry.

If they want to re-admitt you I know it isn't a nice thought but it may well be for the best. Hope it gets sorted soon. Or someone on here can help if they have had it.

Ah do apologise I have re read, you have had treatment for endometreosis is that right? The antibiotics will be to prevent infection sorry.

I personally would take their advice and go in.

You definitely need to go back in, there are all sorts of reasons why the bleeding could have increased.

Sorry you are going through this, it is horrible, but you must make sure you get it checked out.

good luck.

I had a D&C for retained placenta and don't want to worry you but I had barely any 'loss'.
I wouldn't hesitate to go in, best to be on the safe side.

I am really sorry for your loss. When I had my D&C I was only sore for a couple of days and bleed slightly for about a week. I can understand your dread of going back in. Could they scan you to see what is going on? Rather than go through anther procedure?
Best wishes.

I am in hospital now on iv antibotics for 48 hrs. There was no danger of me staying out as the consultant admitted me sight unseen after just speaking to my GP. ozymandias fortunately baby is happy and well d and c was fir retained placenta.

Just v frustrating as pretty much the same thing happened with my first baby. The docs hope that the drugs will kill off any infection and I can stay home for good! Thanks for all the advice.
