Diarrhoea at 5 weeks

Hello, I'm 5-6 weeks pg and since yesterday have been having diarrhoea which has gotten worse. Up several times last night with it and no chance of getting to work today. I am figuring it has to be a bug, getting quite a lot of cramps with it too.

Do I need to see a doctor? I was supposed to be going to docs with DD this morning, but DH has taken her to nursey - am waiting for 8.30 to cancel the appointment. Can/should I be taking dioralyte? Even water is going straight through (sorry tmi).

I'm a bit nervous about phoning in work as have a new (male) line manager who doesn't know I'm pg yet, is not v sympathetic and can't see myself telling him I've got the trots! Really bad day to be off today too.

Sorry, just needed a moan.

Moan away Wholelotta - that sounds awful. I think it's ok, I had diarrhea at the weekend and still have it a bit now, I told my GP and she said it's ok, it won't hurt the bean. Just keep drinking lots of fluids and eat toast/rice/bananas (apparently they help?!?), but see your GP if you feel worried because it's good to put your mind at rest.

I worry about work as well, and that's hard with a new (and male!) boss. If it helps at all, I told my male boss about my miscarriage at start of year (as I had to take a few days off) and he was actually really sympathetic and kind (his wife had had the same before they had their kids) so he might understand. But even if he doesn't, you and your bean are more important than work right now so take it easy on yourself!!
