small movements after lots of kicking

Hi,

Just curious to know if this is 'normal'. 29 weeks right now, baby last week was giving hefty kicks and moving all over the place, like it was rockclimbing. Since Thursday I have barely felt anything... the occasional flutter, but generally nothing much. Is it normal for them to take a few days off and to just kind of chill out in utero? I do not want to panic, but also really do not know what is normal or not!

Thanks in advance, MPkin

I don't think its normal. I would go to hospital and get checked out if I were you. You will need to be attached to a monitor for at least 30 min and it will pick up the heartrate and any movements.

Hi,

I would call your midwife/labour ward or whatever other number you have been recommended to call if you haven't done already.

Also wanted to mention that I am 28 weeks and have a couple of quiet days after lots of kicking. I could still feel movements but it was more like flutters from before 20 weeks. I called my midwife and left a message but couple of hours later had loads of movement. Speaking to others it does seem that bump can have some quiet days and some more active days but always best to get checked out to be on safe side.

Let me know how you get on,

ive had the same type of thing the last few weeks. im 33wks tomorrow. id check with midwife if you're worried. mine told me to lay down as baby shuffles into comfy position then and it usually works well.its late at night and early morning when baby moves around and not really during the day.i dont get kicks now, just moving round a bit.

i hope you get reassurance from midwife/baby moving soon.

Hi - i just wanted to say i am now 37+6 but have found in this and my first pg that movements seems to change suddenly around 28-30weeks and I get no more kicks and instead gets lots of moving around. Sweeping and pressure movements if you like. I think it happens as they get a bit big for kicks etc. I was told as long as you can feel 10 movments in 10 hours things should be fine although it's always worth getting things checked for peace of min. I certainly did.

Hi - I'm 24+2 and have the same issue as you. Last week I went from constant movement to maybe 10 movements a day.

On the third day I went to the hospital and was hooked up to a heartbeat monitor for 30mins. The midwife said it all sounded fine and baby might just have turned round or be sleeping but that I did the right thing to get it checked out.....
