Hi everyone

I am 12+5 and have had some brown spotting this morning. No cramps and feel ok in myself. I had my 12 week scan on Friday and all was fine then.

Has anyone else had spotting this far on and is there anything i should do?

I can't help sorry, didn't want to read a run though. Maybe contact your midwife tomorrow and see what she says.

Hi fudgecat - I had this in my first pregnancy and contacted my doctor ASAP. They scanned me and found the baby was fine - the blood must have come from me. It happened again several days later and I was scanned again to find the same thing. My DD was delivered healthy at term I was desperately worried at the time though - I'd call your midwife/doctor now to put your mind at rest if I were you. If you can't get through to them on a Sunday call the labour ward. If no one can scan you today they could arrange to do it first thing. x

Just wanted to say that I had spotting from 8 weeks and again at 12 weeks, 15 weeks and 20 weeks, it was at times what seemed like a lot of spotting.

11 years later though she is at the park

So don't think it means the end....

Just wanted to add that I also had brown spotting at 7 weeks, 14 weeks and 21 weeks with DD who is now nearly 3.
I think that brown spotting is usually OK and it is red, 'fresh' blood that is usually more of a worry.
I'm sure that everything is OK but call your MW tomorrow anyway just for reassurance.
Try not to worry

I had spotting (or a bleed) at 11 weeks. It was fresh red blood and seemed quite a lot. Also no cramps. I got sent home from work (they loved me, it was New Years Day and they had to cover my sleep-in shift!) I saw Dr the next day. He said it was possibly an inplantation bleed and they can happen around this time.
I also came on MN and got lots of reassuring messages.

I was due my 12 week scan a few days later anyway, they would have brought it forward for me, but as the Doctor didn't seem concerned I was happy to wait. Everything was fine and I now have a slightly nuts 2 year old DD to prove the doctors were right.

Don't panic, take it easy and speak to the Dr or MW as soon as you can to put your mind at rest.

I had spotting like this at about 10 weeks, no pain or anything. Anyway, the baby turned 13 today!

Thanks for the replies everyone

I have started getting cramps since posting earlier so will give the MW a call in the morning and she what she says.

How are you today Fudgecat?

fudgecat · 19/04/2010 18:31

quick update - i am still having brown spotting and am still having cramps. I called the MW this morning who said not to worry unless it turns bright red so I feel a bit less stressed today.

think i will have a nice soak in the bath in a bit

Good to hear that Fudgecat. You said that you had a scan on Friday. I've just remembered that the bleeding I had at 20 weeks was the day after the scan. I remember the sonographer really pushing the thing around quite hard on my stomach and I did wonder whether she's managed to dislodge some blood somewhere . It was probably a coincidence but you never know?
