6 week pregnancy question

Dear all,

Despite all fertility expert opinion, I just turned 40 and find myself 6 weeks pregnant! Very chuffed, of course, but equally cautious. Early days.

I am short and quite slight, with a tiny belly (i.e. not completely flat) but I think I already feel like I've gained a little weight - either bloatedness etc - my tight dungarees already feel a little tighter. My boobs are much bigger and I'm already started getting a few waves of queasiness these past two days and I'm tired.

My (perhaps stupid) question is, is the feeling of a little weight gain normal around 6 weeks? I started panicking and thinking I was carrying multiples, eek!

Anyway, any input welcome. Sorry if I sound so clueless!!

Thanks
Jo

Congratulations!

With number 1 I was 7 weeks and needing to not wear some trousers and not long after I needed new bras..

hi there

you seem to be at the exact same stage as me, only I haven't had any sickness yet. I have just turned 40 too.

I think the boobs thing is normal. I'm a little bit out of shape and slightly over weight so haven't noticed any extra weight but I do think it's normal to feel more bloated, specially towards the end of the day.

congratulations on your pregnancy.

Thanks for the encouragement! Congratulations to you too - don't wish for the sickness!

Happened during both of my pregnancies. Just sort of plumped up a bit.

I liked it.

Is probably bloating - I was ridiculously bloated at 6 weeks, both times. Am now 13 weeks and am a bit less bloated, but bump now showing (as well as an attractive layer of flab).

Congratulations!

Yep, prior to my first pg I was a size 8-10 and was pretty much out of my tight fitting work trousers from six weeks with bloating, then by the time that went down I had a little bump.

This time round I'm only 5 weeks and already pretty bloated (and didn't start this pg at a size 8-10!). Just squeezing into my larger work trousers at the moment but I know I'll be in the maternity ones in a few short weeks.

Also v common for boobs to grow - I went up a cup size almost overnight last time and it looks like it's happening again this time too. Mind you, I was pretty chuffed to go from an A to a DD by end of the pregnancy

Meant to say congratulations on your pregnancy as well!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I felt for a while rather than things being too tight, more like I just didn't want anthing around my middle at all; it just felt really stuffy and uncomfortable. Maybe it's more that than actual weight?
