I'm ttc, could be pregnant...who knows...a few days till i'm due and I suffer from recurrant ear infections. They occur anything from a few a month to once every few months. Have been luckily recently but I feel an earache. Usually I'd dive straight to my repeat perscription ear drops but just read the leaflet and found out not suitable for those pregnant or trying to conceive. Then wanted to go for the nurofen, but wondered if I shouldn't take that too (paracetamol doesn't work for me). Then remembered I use a perscription skin cream that also shouldn't be used during pregnancy.

Just how strict should I be? I mean, it could take months or years to conveive...so surely people don't stop all meidcation just incase>>

I wold chat to your GP: they will know how much risk there is and whether it's more important not to effect the development of the baby once you're pregnant or whether your illness would become much worse without meds. For example, when I was pregnant, my eczema got really bad but I knew the ide effects of using the topical sterois cream I was prescribed on my skin was that my developing baby was more likely to develop a cleft lip so I didn't use the cream. However, when I ahd a sore throat, my gp told me not to worry about taking the thraot sweets I had asked about and said the risk was minimal. It would be best to check though for your med, especially as you're ttc.

That's interesting as I use protopic for eczma/dermatitis (amazing cream - took years to be prescribed) and was told I couldn't use that during pregnancy but I COULD use betnovate steroid cream with no damage to baby...

I was up in the night with bad pain and no chance of seeing doc til monday now, so I had to start the ear drops ( if i find out i'm pregnant in few days, I'll ring doc straight away to see if i need to stop/carry on and assuming i'm not i'll see doc about changing repeat.

thanks
