If this is your 1st baby and you have only just started to feel movement, or if you are overweight, then possibly baby is in a difficult position to feel.

however if the movements are different to usual then best to get checked. Try having something very cold or very sweet and see if that helps.

Best advice would be to get checked. Good luck. x

felt movement every now and again for a few weeks, but is first baby and it has never been a regular occurance. im of average weight.

i feel small bubbles occasionally, or pressure from the inside, like im being prodded, but with so much other stuff going on in my body, i dont know what these are, i just assume its my body working.

the thing is i eat sweet stuff all the time, so i cant imagine eating what i usually eat will make the baby move. i have a scan in 6 days so i'll see for sure then.

x

Contact your midwife if youre worried but I am 18wks and mentioned yesterday to my midwife that I hadnt felt anything in a few days she said not to worry at this stage (it is my 2nd baby)

Try drinking something cold like OJ and lying on your left side for a while. This often gets them moving!

I'm currently 22 weeks with my 1st baby and its only in the last week that I have felt regular movement. Up until then it was just as you desribed, and I could go a couple of days with out feeling anything x

thank you all so much, i think i just need people to tell me not to worry! x

Could just be the position the baby has moved into.... do you know where your placenta is.

1pregheadpumpkin · 15/04/2010 19:10

i have no idea where my placenta is no!

If your placenta is in front (is that anterior?) then you will feel fewer movements as baby will be kicking against that - a bit like a shock absorber.

I had a similar worry at 19 weeks (now 29 weeks). Can you get an appointment to go and see your midwife? I managed to see mine and she listened to the heartbeat and everything was fine. That's the only thing that reassured me, and I couldn't wait a WHOLE WEEK until my 20 week scan! Don't the days just fly by when you're pregnant!

went for scan on wednesday and guess what? anterior placenta, which explains lack of movement. but now i feel the baby all the time, so i was worrying for no reason
