and I've still got weeks to go...

Due date is either 8th or the 17th May.
DS1 came 2 weeks early so could be anywhere between, say, 1 week from now until the END OF MAY!

I physically can't do this any longer.

Can someone tell me I won't get that much bigger/more tired/more uncomfortable in the next few weeks - even if its LIES!

I didn't have anything like this with DS1 - it was a breeze. This time it feels like its such a slog and the thought of another 6 weeks... I could actually cry.

Sorry - someone slap my face and tell me to pull myself together.

newmomma - things going well thanks. LO is feeding really well (too well as nipples cracked and I'm EXHAUSTED!!). Midwife came today and weighed her - she is 3oz heavier than birthweight! DD1 is doing really well bless her but I think it's been a shock to all our systems. Just got to get used to everything now. How about you?

I'm 40+5, just eaten a whole pineapple and guzzling raspberry leaf tea like its going out of fashion. It has given me the most awful heartburn but its preferable to the thousand people asking whether the baby has arrived yet!!! (My OH snapped at work yesterday when asked for the 400th time if there was any news and said "Yes, the baby came but we just decided to meet up after the birth!" lol)

And if one more person gives me helpful tips on how I should eat a Vindaloo then have sex I am going to beat them.

On another note, I went to see herbalist/homeopath lady who lives upstairs and she was going on about taking Caulophyllum once an hour for 6 hours to induce labour. I've never heard of it - anyone heard of it or tried it?

first1 does your silence speak volumes??

any news today for you kate - i hope so? the waiting is so tedious; made worse by the constant 'news?' enquiries...

mad things good here, thanks. apart from engorged boobs that would belong in a freak show... Baby doing well, feeding ok even with slight tongue-tie, but thankfully nothing like as bad as DS1's.

having what i think are awful after pains - some are ok (like cramps) but then others are like a red hot poker right through me just above a hip - have been taking co-codamol to help and they completely cripple me. not sure if they're 'as they should be' or if its something i should ask the mw about?

40+10 today - and still nothing. To make things worse the hospital have put my induction back from Sat to Sun - too busy apparently

How's everyone else doing? Not much activity on this thread today so I'm hoping that's good news for some?

newmomma lovely to hear things are good with you. Is it as exhausting as everyone's telling me it's going to be?

newmomma · 28/05/2010 11:42

Hi baileys

Good luck for the next few days - at least the end is in sight!

Is the birth or the aftermath as exhausting as people are telling you?

Firstly - the birth is exhausting but at the time your body just cracks on with it - so exhaustion doesn't really come into it, if that makes sense.

The aftermath - I'm finding it really enjoyable this time round. DH and I keep looking at each other and wondering what all the fuss was about first time round. TBH babies just sleep a lot to start with so you must make sure you use the time to rest yourself. Its very easy to have guests over 24/7 and then before you know it a week has passed, you're knackered and the baby is starting to be more awake.

Just take the time to listen to your body and your baby and to get to know each other. I've already discovered that DD prefers to sleep swaddled in her basket whereas DS slept best in bed with me until he was 6 months old.

Try different things, don't worry too much about what other people 'think' you should be doing and, above all else, enjoy this time when they're tiny - it flies by.

Hope you get some news really soon - I'll keep checking in to see if you've made an announcement!

Still nothing from you first...??

Morning newmomma - oh the afterpains....I was crying, I have to admit but the worst seems to have passed now. Apparently they are far worse with second and subsequent births. I look at it as a good thing though and hope it means everything will heal quicker. As for engorged breasts, I stupidly thought it would all be far easier after having bf DD1 but in fact no, it still hurt as much although I suspect again it will be easier quicker! DD2 will be 7 days old this evening and nipples are already losing sensation

As for exhausting, I have struggled this week to get my act together a little - have been walking around in a bit of a daze - think I was so focussed on 'getting the birth I want' that I forgot I was having a baby. Spent the best part of the week seeing dawn in as DD1 has taken to nighttime wakings as well as LO but last night, I actually managed to get some sleep so feeling far more human this week. Rush of hormones when milk came in but again, seems to have levelled out a little.

Glad to hear things good with you. Newborns are cute, aren't they? I'm a sucker for a tiny baby. Still nothing from first? Let's hope no news is good news.

Good luck to everyone still waiting - it seems like forever but now I find myself thinking, aw, I liked having a wee baby in my tummy, always with me, kicking etc. Enjoy the prenatal bonding.
