Woken at 6.45am with contraction like pains.

Have been timing them since 8am -coming every 3-5 mins and lasting 27 - 33 secs at the mo, so not very long....
Having to do the breathing though.

Any chance it will all stop?

Congratulations - I hope I can just 'pop' the one I'm carrying out on her due date!

Congratulations!
Did you get your water birth? how much did she weigh? did you get any pain releif?
Sounds like you did very well to manage until that far dilated.
I was in my own world by 5cmish and doubt I would have been able to get off my birthing ball, never mind travel to a hospital

mumatron · 17/04/2010 09:55

MPuppykin · 17/04/2010 11:18

Gory details:
Didn't get water birth - was too busy up there, but had her in 'traditional' birthing semi reclined position - wish I had done it like that for last bed birth rather than being over the headboard.

I used G&A

She was 8 lb 14

Second stage was 11 minutes this time so a bit longer than last time- I didn't want to push!

Couple of stitches but they are in vaginal wall so are not bothering me/stinging at all - she had her arm up - not in a superman pose but had her fist up by her neck.

My pile is now raging but that's the only thing giving me trouble downstairs.

All in all very pleased - straightforward anyway.

She is a right little boob monster but is slightly jaundiced so I am feeling a bit anxious about that till my milk comes in.

We named her Sophia Violet in the end as what I was told by other MNers was right - once we saw her, we knew what her name was.

(I asked every midwife I saw if they had had any babies delivered called Sophia and it is unusual around here so very pleased! )
