Hello, I am 36+1. Midwife has today confirmed that DS is breech footling.

I have a scan next Tuesday at the hospital to properly confirm (but she said definately) and to talk to consultant re birth options.

Also I have high blood pressure, 139/96 for the first time every in my life.

This is my second baby and I had low bp with DD, used to faint a lot from it.

No protein in urine so looks like gestatinal hypertension (you can tell who has spent 3hours on google ). Midwife is coming tomorrow to recheck it.

Having looked online I have got myself worried that something is "wrong" with DS.

Apparently in just under half cases of breech babies, there is a reason that they are breech and this includes abnormalities. our 20 week scan didnt pick any up but now I am just worried about it.

Anyone know anything about this? Or whether my bp could be linked to this (not to the worry as bp was already high before looking online) but whether high bp can also be a sign of "abnormalities". Horrible word I know.

Not sure I can wait until tues for the scan now.

my DD was breech until she was 37 weeks

nowt wrong with her, she was just awkward

now, step away from google and speak to your MW frankly tomorrow about your concerns ... am sure she will be able to reassure you

I agree, I would not keep going with further reading, at your stage you must be just stessed and looking forward to the end of the pregnancy

My DD was breech and delivered by section at 37 weeks, no abnormalities, she just didn't want to sit upside down .

Try not to worry too much, easier said than done I know - I had to wait a week for a scan.

My first was a footling breech too, ended up with an emergency csection but she was absolutely fine, big and healthy! I agree, step away from the googling!

My DD was breech, useless mw did not spot it until 38 1/2 weeks. Cue much panic, attempt to turn baby, scans etc - all over Christmas week.

I had a section a few days later. dd completely fine, nothing wrong with her hips or anything. Like AngelaC said, she was quite comfortable as she was!

Oh, and I was a breech baby delivered by cs as well. Apparently it can be an inherited thing. Don't panic. Your dc may be turned manually, turn by itself, or you may have to have a section, which is nowhere near as bad as you might think. And you avoid labour...

Pretty much the same as Unbuffy... my DD was found to be breech at 37ish weeks, tried to turn her but her bottom was firmly wedged in to my pelvis so I have a section at 40 weeks. There was nothing wrong with her apart from being difficult

Try not to worry about it too much (so much easier said than done, I know!!!) and see what the consultant says and discuss the options available to you...
