I had 3 sweeps, prostin & prostiglandin and none of them got me going. That was at 35 weeks though. Sorry, have realised thats not uch help to you!

i had a sweep at 39 weeks

i had already had a show - yes it worked as i went into labor 2 hours later

if your body is getting ready there is more of a chance of it working

pinkstuff, may I be nosey and also ask why you are having a sweep at 38 weeks?

I have gestational diabetes and it seems they will want to induce me at around the same time. I'm not keen and was wondering if a sweep would be possible first.

BTW, I had a sweep at about 40+4 with DD1 and she was born about 12 hours later so I do have faith that they work at term. No experience for pre-term though (yet)

im not sure about sweep for you as i guess they dont want to mess around with trying stuff. i think the odds are 50/50 at any late stage. i have had 4 big babies and my third had shoulder dystocia. i have had growth scans and this one is average size. i asked not to go over 40 weeks just in case, so consultant agreed to xtying to start mo off at 38 weeks. now im worrying about having a smmall baby. lol.

i had one on Monday, apparentl;y tehre are 2 stages first you have to 'efface' which is thinning and softeneing, then you dilate. On Monday I had not effaced at all and the sweep was v quick indeed, I assume coz tehre was no room. Today I had another one, the effacing has started so there was room and the midwife had a good feel about. She ssaid beacuse she was able to to more there was more chance of it working IYSWIM. I am 40+4. They dio sweeps in 3s, so will have another on Friday if nothing happens, then move on to induction. good luck
