I think it was about 5 months that I first got them.... As long as baby is moving, don't worry, and enjoy the hiccup free time! It's funny and brilliant, but less than amusing at 3am

never felt DS hiccup, and I'm 17+4 with DC2 atm, so pass!

I only started feeling them about 2 weeks ago, at 34 weeks. Some people never feel them and it took me a while to click that the baby couldn't be kicking or punching me quite THAT rhythmically.

I'm now 27 wks and haven't felt them yet - at our 4d scan on Saturday, we could quite clearly see the baby hiccuping (at the beginning, when the image was still on 2d) but I couldn't feel it even then!

sheepgomeep · 13/04/2010 23:40

I've felt them from about 25 weeks with this one. 36 weeks now and they drive me nuts. If I eat something she gets the hiccups

LadyOfTheFlowers · 14/04/2010 08:09

Around 34-36 weeks for me too.

mamamaisie · 14/04/2010 12:27

I never felt a single hiccup with DC1. Now I am 39+1 with DC2 and again haven't felt any hiccups.

bumpology · 14/04/2010 15:37

What do hiccups feel like? I'm 20 weeks pregnant and have felt a sensation in my stomach like when you go over an unexpected bump in a car or when you get a surprise a few times. I've also felt like someone's proding me internally. Are these likely to be the baby or something else. I can't say that it feels like bubbles or a butterfly, which is how some of my friends have described it...

celebmum · 14/04/2010 16:20

i started to feel baby's hiccups around 28-30 weeks.. i thought at first that i was laid funny and had got that thing where you can feel your pulse so i shifted positions and they got stronger! this is when i realised that it must've been hiccups!
DH loved em cos he got to feel them too and for him i think it was exciting to feel something other than random kicks if that makes sense? he strokes my bump and talks to baby to soothe him/her.. bless!

pipinmybelly · 14/04/2010 16:23

i dont if maybe i have felt them already then, il have to keep a watch out for their return...he's moving loads and i love it!! dp has felt him move too now which is nice and he commented last night on how much stronger his kicks are getting...such an amazing experience to share xx

bumpology It sounds like you are experiencing what is known as quickening, www.babiesonline.com/articles/pregnancy/quickening.asp

I started feeling hiccups at around 31 weeks but didn't know what they were. I couldn't figure out how he was able to kick so quickly and in exactly the same spot, usually between 5-30 mins

Same thing happened when I started getting Braxton Hicks, I assumed it was the baby turning and responding to the sound of our voices and my delightful singing . I asked someone at my antenatal class if her baby was as active and described how I could feel his back when he moved and she looked at me like and said those were BHs. Oh the shame...

PlumBumMum · 14/04/2010 16:40

bumpology thats your little baby moving about, ahh those first times are lovely

with dc3 it felt like she had continous hiccups for the last 6 weeks, it was way past being funny

bumpology · 14/04/2010 16:55

Thanks - that's what I hoped, but it didn't sound like how other people described them.

It's so exciting!!
