I am 25 Weeks, I have been lactating massive amounts for about 3 - 4 weeks, so much so I got thrush on one nipple and it cracked in half! The doctor put me on antibiotics and they seem ok. Still leaking a bit.

Now the other one has been itching like crazy. (No thrush) It looks okay, bit swollen and the aereola has a small black lump like a bruise on it.

Is this normal?

I leaked milk at night from 20 weeks in last pregnancy but didn't have thrush until I started feeding. I find that mine itch quite a lot and are a sore all the time so far in this pregnancy, not really sure about the lump though. I've had some strange lumps and bumps appear and then disappear in the fleshy part f the breast which I have put down to milk ducts. Sorry can't be anymore help, I would get it looked at as if its a problem better to get it sorted sooner or rather than later.

Is this your first baby? I'm no authority on this kind of thing but in my experience I think it's surprising just how much your nipples can change during pregnancy, especially the first time round. Mine started producing colostrum when expressed both times around 20 weeks so that sounds normal, I didn't get leaking so much till the very end of pregnancy.

I had very itchy nipples/boobs around your stage the first time round for a few weeks, it drove me mad! I think it's the "background action" that's going on, and probably the extra blood flow. Try not to scratch, I managed to severely scratch one of mine and it wasn't pleasant, and can lead to infections. This time round they've itched for much longer so I have to keep it under control with eurax cream or I just wouldn't sleep.

The bruise looking bit of your aureola might just be patchy pigmentation, but if it's worrying you get it checked out.

Nothing useful to add really apart from my areola have become soooo dry and a good 2 shades darker at 35 weeks than pre pregnancy!!
