2nd pg, but never had pain like this in first pg.

Feels like stitch pain when been running. Baby is still kicking about like a good'un (im 28 weeks) but god this pain is making me short of breath, hurts more when standing and talking. Just popped a couple of parecetomol.

Anything to worry about or just muscles trying to stretch????

Surely someone else has had the same thing?? Don't want to go to hospital or docs as don't want to look paranoid!

I had that - second time around only. Realised after a while it was trapped wind and indigestion remedies helped a lot. Might be worth a go before calling MW?

LouLouH · 12/04/2010 10:41

not wind unfortunately, plus with the amount of gaviscon ive had to take for heartburn it shouldn't be anything like that. Its surface pain, like my muscles are about to split! lol. I've got a high pain threshold normally, but this is getting to me.

Hi Lou, I've been getting this and it's unbearable at times. MW told me it was my ligaments stretching and to just take painkillers and put a warm hotwater bottle over the area.

My pain is like a stitch in my right side, with a dull ache which spreads under my bump to the left. Pain also ends up in my back and down my right leg. I ended up in bed the other afternoon as it lasted 5 hrs. Yesterday it came on at 3pm and I still had it at midnight last night. Pain then woke me up at 3am, so just took painkillers and eventually got back to sleep. I also find it comes on if I've been walking or standing for a while.

My MW said it could last a few weeks yet, hopefully it will go after that. I've usually got a high pain threshold, but this is like a migraine or earache - you just can't concentrate on doing anything else to take your mind of it.

Lou - I have also been getting pains like this and my cons told me not to worry, just rest as much as I can and let it pass. Like Whammie though, mine have been known to last for hours and at one point I did wonder if it was the start of labour (am currently 36+3 and had the pains for ages yesterday).

LouLouH · 13/04/2010 14:13

Had the pain all through the day and evening, then at about 9pm it just went! V.weird. Midwife said not to worry when i called them in the afternoon. I guess my lovely buba was laying awkwardly and suddenly decided to remove her offending limb or bum or whatever part of her she had decided to move! A bit tender today when she kicks in the same place i had pain, but other than that all good.

Thank you ladies, hope yours have shifted too!

I did get this with my first, but only on a few occasions. It only lasted for a few minutes.
This time, I get it nearly every day and it lasts between 10 minutes - an hour or two.
Definately worse this time. It is usually one one side, like a sharp cramp / stitch. It takes your breath away and I can't stand up straight.
Like most of you, I have a high pain threshold ( had my first with no pain relief).Midwife thinks that it's either ligaments stretching, or baby pressing against a nerve?
Either way, it is bloody uncomfortable!!

I had awful awful pains in my right side one time when I was about 5 months pg. I could hardly walk and was convinced I was losing him. But they found absolutely nothing wrong.

LouLou whereabouts is your pain?

muddler · 13/04/2010 21:53

Currently having the same thing, left hand side and it is agony! I am 25 wks and had midwife appt today so I know all is ok with baby, bp, urine, etc. But it is taking my breath away!
My 2nd pg too - is it true that the stretching pains feel worse second time?

LouLouH · 14/04/2010 11:11

I haven't had the pain since. Im guesiing baby was pressing on something as it suddenly went and i felt fine. Really weird feeling though, it is scary. Like a sharp stitch and it does take your breath away. But (through gritted teeth) the little darlings are worth it!
