I had my booking in appointment last Wednesday and had my bloods taken. The MW said I would get the results at my 16 week appointment and that "no news is good news"

Yesterday I found a message on the answer machine saying "this is your doctor?s surgery - please phone us". The surgery is closed at the weekend so I can?t call until tomorrow but I?m worried that something bad has been picked up on the blood tests.

Any ideas what it could be?

it could be that you just need some iron tablets !?!?

waitingforbedtime · 11/04/2010 10:07

Yes it could just be anaemia for example. Or you could be that RH negative thingy that I dont understand but neednt be a problem.

Worrying wont change anything so just dont. (total hypocrite I worry for Scotland)

They'd have called more than once and said to call them urgently if it was a major problem Im sure.

So are these your booking blood results?

AFAIK they check for anaemia, blood type, rubella immunity, maybe sugar levels?, syphylsis, HIV etc.

It could be that you dont have rubella immunity - have you ever had rubella (german measles)?

could be a thyroid problem - quite common in pregnancy and easily fixable with tablets. Usually goes away afterwards

StealthPolarBear · 11/04/2010 10:09

I had exactly this about a urine sample. They'd knocked it over in the lab so I had to re-pee

Don't worry about it, most likely to be something minor, eg urine infection / low iron levels.

Hi just to put your mind at ease,

I had my 16 weeks blood, they picked up i had 9% chance of my baby having downs etc but they didnt call the midwife actually came to my house on a sunday!!

If it was anything at all that was important they would of contacted you some way xx

mumtotwoboys · 11/04/2010 18:10

When the doctor left me messages saying come in to speak about some blood test results I was convinced I had AIDS or something, was just an anti-body that hasn't caused any problem yet.
Don't worry! It's not likely to be serious

thanks for the messages, i will give them a ring in the morning and find out what they are after me for. I dont think it will be urine related tho as that was tested during the appointment and all was fine.

Yes - my friends who have had high risks have had the midwife come round not a random call.
