Hi, I'm Jennie..

I found out on the 9th April 2010 that I'm having a baby girl. But my partner was devoted that She was going to be an He' so all he was doing was 'names for a boy' and no 'girls names' and im well and truly stuck!

Now that we have found out She's a girl, we're stuck with names.

Can't think of anything really, names I come out with my partner either says no he dosn't like them, or my mother says "you have to think about school, they may get bullied" so I'm stuck in a vicious circle.

Could anyone and everyone HELP ME OUTTT PLEASE!

Tell me some names, and I shal get my partner and mother to go through them with me and see if they like any of them!

Much Aprechated

Thankyou x

What I would do was go through some Baby Names websites (there are loads but there's one that tells you the name of every baby registered in England/Wales or Scotland) for the previous year. Trawl through that then come up with a shortlist of names you like then discuss with partner.

My other piece if advice is DO NOT DISCUSS ANY POTENTIAL NAMES WITH RELATIVES. Very important as people have very strong opinions about names and if you come up with a name you like but they don't they will always find a way of putting you off it. This is YOUR baby you and your partners and you should name it. With my first we agreed her name and told everyone then we got the comments and "oh it rhymes with X" and "I don't like it, I like X better" really grates on you. With the next one we told no one the name untl after she was born then they cannot say something if the baby has lareayd been named IYSWIM.

Also, pop this message on the Baby Names topic thread and you'll be inundated with everyone's favourites. It's a bit of a broad remit just asking for suggestions, perhaps put a few you like out so people can see the type of name you are going for?

I would ditto the not discussing it with relatives thing, or even friends- someone always makes offputting comments about them and you're left with nothing.

if you post on the baby names forum with your list of boys names they'll help you come up with comparible girls names!

The other alternative is to wait until the baby's born, then see what comes naturally and suits her. I did this with our son and it was a lot easier than planning in advance. Once I saw him, it was very easy. As sweetkitty says, it can be a nightmare to go through names in advance with friends and family!!
