Working out due dates from date of intercourse?

So I'm pregnant, I had unprotected sex exactly 39 weeks and 8 hours ago, lol
Have various 'due dates' from different scans, 10th, 12th and 15th (april)
But as I know when I had sex, can I know my due date from that??

Eager to know

I think you will be having a baby VERY SOON.

Congratulations

Due dates are notorioulsly fiddly. You can't know from knowing whrn you've had intercourse because, as LadyintheRadiator said, the sperm can live for quite a while- up to three days I think.

There's also the fact that only the average pregnancy is 40 weeks. Some people deliver spot on(ish) while others go over or under. I had my DS at 39 weeks, but any time from 37 weeks onward the baby is no longer classed as being premature if it is born. At 42 weeks they will induce, but that's a precautionary measure because the placenta can begin to become less effective.

FWIW, 50 years ago when dating methods were less reliable, my mum was born a full 5 weeks after my Nan's DD.

If you know the conception date, you add 266 days apparently.

My due date by my LMP is April 15th.

I know conception took place on 25th July 2009. (Only time DH and I had sex)

If I add 266 days on to this date I get a due date of 17th April.

Was a bit gutted as I only Googled about it so I could work it out and hopefully get an earlier due date!!

Backfired though!!

Ooh thanks for congrats

I read it was 38 weeks from when pregnancy actually begins (implantation).
But when does implantation happen? I heard it can take upto ten days from the sperm 'arriving at the scene' lol
sperm usually get into egg within 1-3 days (??) then the egg can take 5 days to travel down to womb and implant itself, then it's 38 weeks from then??
is this true?
arg confusing :-p

If you add 266 days onto 11th July 2009 you get Saturday 3rd April.

Oh gosh, thanks for working that out for me!
I could actually be a week overdue..

Unless it's 266 days from the day the fertilised egg implants, rather than the intercourse..
Was definately July 11th it happened, after a gig

have been reading that an "average" pregnancy is 41 weeks not 40 (ie more women late than early) so even if you can work out based on intercourse doesn't help that much as sperm can live for up to 5 days before ovulation. even if you pinpoint ovulation its still an estimate...

Max1979 · 26/02/2019 14:07

So what is 266 days from 9th feb please

Kayleigh812 · 15/08/2019 08:54

November 2nd

I loved trying to work out my due date but you cant get it exact unfortunately. I always knew when I ovulated because of the cramps but egg attachment is a few days window.
