Incompetent Cervix advice please x

With my first pegnancy, I had my cervix checked at 27 weeks due to having had a loop excision biopsy previously, my cervix was soft at that time, and I was given steroids to encourage early lung development in case of premature labour.

I gave birth to dd 6 days before due date so all was fine.

However I am concerned for this pregnancy because it is my second, and I am worried that my cervix may have been softened more when I had dd. I also had to have a manual removal of the placenta as it didn't want to come away from my womb wall, I am also worried this may have weakened my cervix but I don't know why I think that, just a concern I have.

Anyone had similar and gone on to have a successful 2nd pregnancy?

I have an incompetent husband! I know it's not the same, but he's made it through two pregnancies just fine!

If you are concerned speak to your midwife, and no doubt she/someone can examine you. I believe that it is possible to have the cervix stitched shut.

It is possible, but they don't tend to do it till you have had a loss due to it, and as I have had a successful pregnancy I doubt I will be classed as a risk but I don't really know. I did mention it to midwife and she just said the consultant will see me at a later date.
