Hi everyone,

could do with some advice/experience

I found out i was pregnant with a early pregnancy test on a monday, was due my period the following Friday, so found out very early, did tests all week all faint but there, Friday (day my period was due) i did a digital test that said "pregnant" but i started to bleed Friday night and carried on like a period.

The doctor said i had a very early MC and if i hadn't of tested would of never of known. so basically nothing to be done just rest etc. Also got told once bleeding had stopped to take another test. I took a digital one and it came up "not pregnant" so that was that.

But since then i feel sick, waking up in the night feeling soo sick, and sore breast's, headaches (which i never get) and exhausted. So my DH said to call GP so i did, he said just take another test.

So today i took a FR test and there was a line , faint, but def line???

What's going on with me :-( i have to wait till Monday now to see my GP i feel in limbo and would very much appreciate any opinion on this.

TIA

vanishing twin syndrome?

you need to have blood tests done by GP if urine test still showing positive on monday.

mumsie123 · 09/04/2010 18:37

It's just so odd! a negative then a faint positive. driving me nut's.

Hmm, have you done any more tests? I'd get to the doc for a blood test...

Biscuitbreaker · 09/04/2010 20:15

Also, the digital ones aren't very sensitive, so if you had done it early, it might not have picked up on the hormone you had in your urine around Fri.
I would do more testing!

i got a pack of 2 today (as they didnt sell singla ones) so i shall do another in the morning, just so typical that it happens at the weekend so i have to wait till monday

you can't get a false positive, so you might not have had a miscarriage, some women do bleed around the time of their period - also, bare in mind if you are in the v early stages and you tested in the middle of the day or with v dilute wee, you might not have got an accurate result when you got your -ve test

a line is a line, so for now, you are most likely pregnant.. your GP might refer you for an early scan, but you won't see much before around 6 -7 weeks, but it might set your mind at rest..

Lulumaam · 09/04/2010 20:16

your gp won't be able to do much on monday anyway, except possibly refer you on, the tests they do are pretym uch the same as teh wee on a stcik ones you can buy over the counter

do your tests with first morning urine, that is your best chance of an accurate result

If i am still pregnant i would be 7 weeks today.

I feel so upset and unsure and really scared.

I did test today about 3pm but if i was pregnant and 7 weeks surely the line would be very dark?

Having been in a similarish situation with a friend of mine it could well be that the faint line your seeing is the result of the diminishing pregnancy hormone, with my friend this went on for a few days leading her to feel very up and down or as other posters have suggested perhaps a twin pregnancy.

Im really sorry for how you are feeling and hope you find your answer soon x.

mumsie123 · 09/04/2010 20:36

Hi nickschick thank you, i also thought maybe hormones taking its time, but wounder why so long when it was such a early pregnancy loss and it was 3 weeks ago.

Just have to do another test in the morning and hope i get a better awnswer.

Thank you

Just wanted to say I had a very similar thing happen last year. I had a heavy bleed at 5 weeks pregnant which was a miscarriage. I tested around 3 weeks later to make sure and got a faint positive and a 1-2 on a digi test. A few days later got a 2-3 on a cb digi!! Ended up at the hospital, there was nothing in my uterus but my body was just hanging onto the hormone. They tested my HCG levels for a couple more weeks until they came right down.

Sorry to hear you're going through this, it's hard not to know, I just wanted to be told yes or no and by the end I didn't care which!!

I hope you get some answers and wish you lots of luck. xx

mumsie123 · 11/04/2010 10:58

Thank you kat so sorry you went through the same thing.

I will go down to my EPU monday i think, i'm not really sure where it is, i will have a look.

Thank you

If the EPU is anything like the one here, you have to be referred by your gp to them, they won't let you just turn and and they won't let you self refer. Might be different near you though, ring them first.

Sorry to hear you are in this situation, but pregnancy hormones can take a while to leave the body after a loss. GP may do a blood test, they are apparently more accurate than poas.

Good luck x
