I am 33 weeks pregnant and my partner and i haven't had sex at all throughout this pregnancy, he has been really sweet about it and it hasn't really been mentioned. I had 2 mcs last year and i think that has put us both off a bit. We are now both up for it but don't know if we should as i have read that if you have probs or previous mcs a doctor should be consulted 1st, don't fancy doing that though. Does anybody know if it's just for the first few wks that sex should be avoided due to past probs. Also could doing it this late poss bring early labour on, don't want that either!!!.
However i would love indulge in a bit now but is it worth it !!!!

Have you had any bleeding or anything in this pregnancy? I completely understand how having those mc's must have put you off in the first trimester or so but I very, very much doubt that sex at this point will do you any harm at all.

You've got a tightly sealed cervix, a big mucous plug, a thick layer of membranes etc seperating the baby from your partners penis, so there's very little damage it could do although sometimes because of the extra blood in the area it's easy to get a bit of pink spotting after sex, coming from the cervix, and that's nothing to worry about.

Sex doesn't usually bring on early labour as far as I know, but the prostaglandins in sperm can help to soften and dilate a cervix when the baby is full term/overdue and ready to be born. It can stimulate some braxton hicks fake contractions though (as can your own orgasm) so don't be alarmed if that happens.
