Membrane sweep

Sorry if this has already been asked.
How does the sweep feel? as in is it quite painful etc?
Saw my midwife today and she has offered it to me next week.

I'm a total wimp and I survived! It feels like a very thorough examination and does pinch a bit but it's over very quickly. DH and I then helped things along a bit and hey presto I was in labour...it's got to be better than another day overdue hasn't it?! xx good luck with everything xx

I found it no more uncomfortable than a smear test. It didn't work for me but I'd give it another go without question!

Wasn't sore, just uncomfortable really. As Cinnamon said it's no worse than a smear. And I was in labour 2 hours later so WELL worth it.

I have had two, with different midwives. My usual MW is very heavy handed and it really hurt, the second was much better and only as uncomfortable as having a smear. Although, I still haven't had my baby.

Thanks! just wondered, midwife has also provisionaly booked me for 25th to be induced if things dont move along.
I'm kinda hoping i dont need either but i have a feeling piglet is quite happy to stay in tummy!

Don't worry about the sweep at all - I was so worried about it as it name sounds horrific, but I actually found it less uncomfortable than a smear test.

(and I went into labour later that day too)

As per intravenouscoffee posted, I found it no more uncomfortable than a smear and was in labour within a couple of hours
