Has anyone's Beta HCG only raised by 50% in 48 hours but still had a successful pregnancy?

I have had brown spotting for a week and some cramping, as well as reduction in breast soreness..

I have had my beta hcg tested and it's only raised by 50% in 48 hours - this doesn't seem good.

The other thing is that I had a scan on Monday and they said I was only 5 weeks (I know I am 6 weeks today) but that they could only see a sac - no heartbeat?

Can anyone share a similar experience? Please don't be affraid to be honest? I am expecting the worse..

It will be gutting though as it has taken DH and I 14 months to get pregnant again after missed mc at 10 weeks..

Hi. I had spotting so I ended up on the conveyor belt of early scan/blood tests, and had a successful PG. My BHCG only went up by 30% in 48 hours, I thought I was 7.5 week,s but was only 5.5-6 weeks - so first scan only showed sca, no fetal pole or hb. was your scan abdominal or vaginal? at this stage vaginal shows up to a week more development than an abdominal one.

btw when googling on this topic, I found that approx 85% of healthy PGs have HCG levels going up between 66 and 100% in 48 hours - i.e. there is a significant minority where the hormones go up less despite all being OK.

They did both - vaginal and abdo.. Sonographer said that my Sac measured 9mm, then said it was 8mm.. Your story gives me faith and hope.

Totalchaos - Can I ask how long your spotting lasted for? What was it like - sorry if TMI, but I am going mad.. Also, did you lose any other symptoms?

spotting happened around 5 weeks ish (thought at first i was having a light period, rather than PG). I had about a day or two of brown spotting, and a little bit of stomach cramps. otherwise symptoms were pretty much indistinguishable from PMT.

btw apart from the odd moment of nausea, morning sickness didn't settle in properly till about 8 weeks, and then went on till about 20 weeks on and off...
