Just after some advice - 5+2 weeks pregnant - brown/pink stained mucus?

Hello

Finally pregnant after 14 months of trying following a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks in December 2008..

I have been fine, but on Wednesday night, last night and this morning I have had a pink/browm discharge when I wipe (and after a bowl movement) - no flow, no bright red and no cramping... Anyone had anything similar? Would like to hear good and babd expriences?

What's worrying me the most is that my boobs are less sore than they were last week and I fear this is a threatend miscarriage and that my hormone levels are dropping?

Amarilis, sorry you're feeling so worried. Understandable.

I am on DC4, 10 weeks pg, after a mc in December. I had spotting at 7 weeks and 8 weeks, just brown mucus and lasting only a few hours. I've had 5 scans since (private health care abroad so not subject to NHS budget constraints)and baby is fine so far. The spotting was down to a very small sub-chorionic haemmorage, a common cause of spotting. Both times my other symptoms were reduced.

I also spotted at 6 and 7 weeks with DCs 1 and 3. It's very common.

Unfortunately, at 5+2, theres nothing much you can do as a scan wouldn't show a heartbeat at this stage. Just take it easy - can you go to bed? - and wait to the 6 week mark and try and get an EPU appointment. If you can afford it, maybe try and get a private scan as some docs can be somewhat unsympathetic.

I hope that helps and I'd tryand tell you not to worry, but you will, so just be kind to yourself and take care.

Amarilis - at 5 weeks and with no red flow, it's likely to be normal early pregnancy bleeding, which is very common.

However, as it says, from about 6 weeks, the hospital woudl be able to do a internal vaginal scan to find heartbeat and so if bleeding doesn't stop, or gets worse, I would go to the GP and get referred for scan.
Try to rest as much as you can, lying down.

hi amarilis, i know what your going through, i had a missed miscarraige in nov 2008, i am now seven weeks pregnant and at 6 weeks i had brown spotting and mucus, i immediatley thought it was happening again so went to the doctors who sent me to the early pregnancy unit last week they did a scan and found a heartbeat. The midwife didnt know where the blood was coming from said it was probably from my cervix. I know its easy to say but try not to worry its more common than you think. I still think everythings going wrong after last time but hopefully we will both be lucky this time x
