...

What does this REALLY mean?!

The calm before the storm or delivery is months away?

(No.4 - Don't remember this last 3 times)

with ds i felt awful for 2 days before labour started. lots of aches and pains, head aches and sleepless nights. 11 hour labour, 39+4wks

with dd i felt absolutely fine, not even braxton hicks. 40+1, dropped dp to the pub, pulled car up on drive, got out and waters broke everywhere. meconium in waters. still no contractions. baby born 2 hours later. after being told i would need to be induced the next morning.

make the most of feeling fine, im sure it wont last long!

oh, and good luck!

twolittlemonkeys · 03/04/2010 10:31

Make the most of it! I felt miserable at end of my last pregnancy. Are you feeling energetic? Maybe it's nesting

Bondwife · 03/04/2010 10:53

Im 39 wks today and have felt brilliant the last 3 weeks - painted the nursery and kitchen etc and had loads of energy - house it spotless and dog has been walked for miles - must be just me and you x

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/04/2010 15:47

I could get on and do things. I mean I keep thinking about getting all her clothes washed ready etc.

(I have packed my bag and that has clothes in for her by the way!)

I have not had the urge yet to do the skirting boards which I usually get, just this really 'well' feeling which I am pretty sure is new.

Today - after weeks of feeling awful - I actually got up and felt marvellous. I have just over 3 weeks to go before due date so I don't know if it's a sign of anything being imminent. Perhaps it's the change in the weather and the feeling that Spring is in the air, finally.

I remember though, the last time before I went into labour I did have a few days of feeling on a real high. But then I felt much more blooming all the way through pgy last time. This time it's been huffing, puffing, bloating, itching and nausea all the way through.

Only time will tell for you!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/04/2010 18:57

For an hour earlier on I was contracting quite strongly and regularly as I made egg mayo sarnies and began to get excited. Lo I am still here. It all stopped.

I bet I have another 2 weeks of teasing ahead like I did last time....

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/04/2010 19:45

It would seem if I get up and get moving they start but if I sit down they stop?

Before I go for a jog round the block....

How exciting! I felt really good throughout my 2nd & 3rd trimesters with DD1. So well that I was in complete shock at going into labour at 39+5. My midwife thinks it contributed to a quick labour. Hope things are going well LoftheF!

mumatron · 05/04/2010 08:59

how are you lof? any news?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 05/04/2010 09:02

No.

Will just be niggling on and off for the next 10 days, plus whatever I go over I'm sure.

Thanks for asking.

Thats really strange - I went to be assessed on Fri evening as baby hadn't moved much and MW picked up that I have been having contractions - quite strong ones at that - but no waters, or show etc and not dilated. I have been having these for the last 10 days and just put them down to Braxton Hicks but MW was v definate that they are infact normal contractions. They mainly happen late in the evening when I sit down and relax (or thats when I notice them). I wonder if feeling brilliant and having contractions for a while are related?

mumatron · 05/04/2010 09:27

will you both just hurry up and have your babies?! preferably with a live birth thread? lol.

good luck to you both and keep us updated

Bondwife · 05/04/2010 10:10

mumatron - I think that both you and my DH are starting to think I'm doing this on purpose!!! lol

flybynight · 05/04/2010 14:35

Hi LotF. I'm due my 4th on the 24th and I feel much better right now that I did a month or two ago. I have absolutely NO signs of labour, other than strong BH in the evenings. If a fourth labour should have a long, niggling pre-labour as I have heard, it looks as though I'm never having this baby. With my 3rd, I remember excruciating pain in my upper thighs at this stage, and period-y pains. This time - nada.

Don't know if I feel lucky or not .

LadyOfTheFlowers · 05/04/2010 16:59

Hi Fly.

Last time, with DS3, it kept stopping and starting for the last 2 weeks.

I would get the dull backache which would pick up to be quite sore then the contractions would start, quite strong from the start about 2-3 mins apart. This would go on for an hour or so so off I'd hop in the tub to get freshened up, ready for hosp. Would bounce around on the ball and pace around...
DH would make his sandwiches and last minute checks would be made to my labour bag..... then it would stop.
This happened twice.

Other times it went on for 40 mins and hour then stopped.

I am expecting to go over again, by 4 days to be exact, but every time it kicks off I am reluctant to take much notice as I don't believe it's really it which leaves me worried what if it really IS time?

DS3 arrived in under 4 hours and within an hour of arriving at hosp - I don't want an unplanned homebirth or to have her the car!!

coffeeaddict · 05/04/2010 17:57

I'm due with my 4th in 2.5 weeks. Having been tired and tearful for ages, had such a surge of energy today I decided to do a workout! (Blame the sunshine. Also prompted by BBC news story about exercise in pregnancy affecting your child's metabolism... oops, better late than never?)

Have had no BH, no nothing. I feel so far from labour my bag isn't even packed yet.

mumatron · 07/04/2010 19:14

any news?? i need to hear a birth story from one of you soon

LadyOfTheFlowers · 07/04/2010 20:46

Ha ha!

Nothing here yet.

Not actually due yet though so am trying to forget about it iykwim?!

39 weeks tomorrow.

OP posts:
mumatron · 07/04/2010 20:54

well feel free to go to labour early.

i have a weird obsession keen interest in other peoples births.

Bondwife · 08/04/2010 07:32

No - nothing yet will let you know

D Day is saturday but it seems that I have upset a family history (on both sides!) as they have ALL been born at least two weeks early. Rubbish!

Nevermind it gives me plenty of time to finish painting the kitchen and cleaning the coal store out

Bondwife · 13/04/2010 22:42

Any news LOTF? I'm still hanging in there (much to hubbys dismay)and now 40+3

LadyOfTheFlowers · 14/04/2010 08:14

No, nothing here either.

Am due tomorrow and will be getting a sweep tomorrow too - consultants' orders as DS2 was 10 lb 12, even though DS3 who followed was only 8 lb 12.
I know all it will do is bring pointless period pains on which will go away.

Saying that, I do have more of that dodgy back ache at the mo - probably just the way I am sat as she is moving around a lot. All the others quietened right down when it's time.

My DH is chomping at the bit here - wants some time off work!!
