Reassure me! MW can't find heartbeat at 15+1 so she is sending me to EPU

Just been for a routine 15 week appointment and she tried to find the heartbeat but couldn't after trying for quite a while, so as a precaution is sending me for a scan. I had early bleeding so maybe that is why she is being cautious. Obviously I am pleased she is being proactive but is it not quite early for hearing the HB. Should I be worried?

I had to go the epu when I was 14 weeks as I thought I was leaking fluid (turns out it was a false alarm). The registrar could not find a heartbeat despite trying for around 20 minutes. She was going to send me off for a scan but then found a colleague and asked him to try and he found it straight away.

Good luck, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I don't think anyone could honestly say if you should be worried tbh. If you feel okay, stick with that. When are you going?

lollypop101 · 31/03/2010 17:28

I'm sure all will turn out well. My midwife took a long time to find my little ones heartbeat at 16 weeks, she did at the end but only after vigourously moving my tummy etc. I hope you are going tonight to ease your mind?

Bumperlicious · 31/03/2010 17:40

Going at 6.30 tonight. Don't think they are very happy about it but I heard the registrar saying to someone in the background about it being unreasonable for me to go overnight not knowing how the baby is, so yay for him.

I'm not overly worried, I'm sure it is quite early. Really clocking up these scans though, this is my third one! If only I got loyalty points!

Good luck - i'm sure you will be fine. It could just be that the placenta is in the way xx

FabIsGettingThere · 31/03/2010 17:45

Tough, but hurray for your registrar.

lollypop101 · 31/03/2010 17:47

I had 5 scans by 15 weeks due to bleeding etc. Never ever feel guilty about finding out if your baby is ok. That is what we pay our money for remember

Good luck. Bet you can't wait to hear your little one xxx

Hope everything is ok. I'm sure all babies are different, but my GP first found the heartbeat at 13weeks. And as far as scans go, I'm 33weeks and have had 10!

Bumperlicious · 31/03/2010 18:59

Panic over, hospital found the heartbeat. Thanks for all the messages.

I'm never fricking doing this again!
