Is this normal?

I am 9+1 wks and for the last few days I have had a really bad lower back ache, along with abdominal pain - sometimes they are sharp, but mostly a dull nagging kind of ache. I spoke to the doctor, but she just suggested pain killers - the midwives aren't even interested until I am 12 weeks!!!

Is this normal or something I need to worry about? I have no bleeding or spotting.

everything is stretching and moving so aches and pains are usual

in the absence of spotting or bleeding then you are probably ok

it goes without saying if things change or the pain is very bad you should seek medical advice/help

I was also told that aches and pains are normal, especially if they feel like a tugging sensation. It's just your body responding to getting stretched a bit. I'm 13 weeks and have had various aches round my pelvis.

Tanmu I'm 8+6 and have had what sounds like the same kind of pain since yesterday, a sort of uncomfortable dragging in my abdomen and lower back.

I think it is just stretching and moving as the others have said, the uterus is starting to think about moving up out of the pelvis around now. I saw a perfect foetus with strong heartbeat on my early scan just yesterday so am staying positive on this one! I hope you can too.

thanks for the reassurance guys! You'd think I'd be an expert by now since this is my 3rd pg! I think I'm a little paranoid because I know so many people who have had fertility problems, miscarriages and ectopics.... 12 weeks couldn't come any quicker!!!
