Baby or Alien movements??!!?

Ok, I'm 33+2 so I'm sure space is at a premium, but there have been quite a few times this past week or so where I've found myself questioning myself whether or not I do actually have a baby on board. Her movements are really weird! Gone are the isolated kicks. In its place are freaky shakes and snake-like squirms. My tummy wobbles all over the place and I swear it feels like she's trying to wriggle her way out through my belly button. Tell me this is normal!?

perfectly normal, just wait a few more weeks and you'll think that baby is literally trying to claw her way out of your foof

my little boy kicked my mobile off my belly the other day!!!

You've definitely got a strong kicker there then! Good to hear it's normal. Just get a few odd looks when you're trying to have a serious meeting at work and you've got elbows and knees kicking out through your clothes!

Oh yes, perfectly normal. I remember being in a work meeting where a younger childless male colleague couldn't take his eyes off my bump. DD2 was doing gymnastics in there, and he was fascinated in a slightly nauseated sort of way

OMG that is so funny! Yep, I experienced the same thing and I felt like I had an alien in me. I called my DD my freaky little alien.

It's the upwards version into the bottom of my lungs that gets me squirming blurgh. But it is weird to see it from the outside. Baths are a favourite time for them to make some fantastically odd shapes out of your belly

TulipsInTheRain · 31/03/2010 12:02

all three of mine were squirmers too.

at dd's christening i was 8 months pregnant with ds1 and my dad spent a few happy drunken hours watching my belly do alien impressions... from across the room! ds1 just kept going and going and going and my dad was riveted and kept drunkenly shouting at everyone 'Have you seen her bump... it's incredible... look at it moving!'

just wait til the baby starts bracing it's legs against the wall of your wonb and stretching it's legs [ouch]... one of mine (can't remeber which) once seemed to get stuck like that for ages... i honestly thought i was going to have to go to the hospital to get the baby cut out

all three found my old broken ribs as soon as they got big enough too and seemed to enjoy making me jump by kicking them

Tulip - Very impressed you had the energy to organise a christening at 8 months pregnant!

Baby is head down, so feeling her do a full length stretch digging her feet right into my ribs is soooo uncomfortable. Cant wait till she engages and gives me some breathing space

ds1 and 2 are almost 4 and almost 14 months and are still un-christaned due to how much i hated the experiance with dd so can't take any credit i'm afraid!

Alien is right! I was worried the baby was having an epileptic fit one day - it was shaking so much and so violently. I'm 31 weeks. Though I'm going to miss all of the movement afterwards - I find it so endearing to be honest At least during the day, when I'm trying to sleep it's less cute.
