Moses Basket

Just bought a moses basket and am now confused. I know that young babies are not meant to sleep under duvets etc, but basket comes with a "coverlet" which seems to be essentially a thin duvet. Can I use this coverlet with the newborn - if not why is it included with the basket?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I didn't - it's best if blankets are tucked in so that they can't end up on the baby's face.

Mine came with not only a very thick coverlet made up of stuffed pockets of quilt the size of tennis balls (I kid you not), but also came with a pillow with a warning on the label which basically implied you shouldn't use it .

I use mine to bolster up dd's back for extra support while bfing. I used grobags/generic branded sleeping bags for both children asap, but until then used blanket firmly tucked under the mattress, if that makes sense?

The coverlet is just to pretty it up. It serves no use at all.

I used to shove it on when the basket wasnt in use, if I remembered, in a half hearted attempt at "tidying".

Can be useful in the pram though or to put over legs in car seat I suppose.
