I can't even suck it in anymore...

I've always carried a bit of weight around my middle, but this is bad! I look properly pregnant and people even comment on my "bump" but I feel bad for even having one yet!

I don't think I've been eating tooooo much more than usual (but it's possible...) and have a UTI at the moment, could that make bloating worse? Also a small fibroid... Can I blame any of this for being a bit bigger than expected or am I just a fatty?

Dont fret - your only going to get bigger .

sorry but congrats x

SaintGeoff · 29/03/2010 08:43

I had no fibroid, no extra weight and no UTI. I also had a definite bump at 12 weeks and was in maternity clothes. My colleagues all knew.

I was bigger earlier than most but it slowed down/evened out. I got bigger v quickly until about 20 weeks when I stayed the same for weeks on end while everybody else caught up.

Bumperlicious · 29/03/2010 08:44

It's not a problem at all. Just be prepared for the comments, especially later on - 'Gosh, you are soooo, big' (yep, a woman never tires of hearing that ) 'are you sure you've only got one in there' (this will only ever be said by a man, or a well meaning aunty who will convince you that it is entirely possible that you are carrying twins with knowing it after all they run in the family...)

dappymoo · 29/03/2010 08:58

haha, thanks! yeah it's funny, it's people's comments that make you feel bad... personally I think it's quite understandable to have a belly with all thats going on in there!

I suppose it doesn't help that I know a girl at the same stage as me who is stick thin and STILL stick thin...but I'm a proper maternity clothes fan already!

Could it be that your fibroid is growing? I was found to have a fibroid at my 12 week scan and apparently they have a tendency to get bigger in pregnancy(and shrink again afterwards). Mine was the same size as the baby at 12 weeks. I'm 14 weeks now and have a proper bump too, if it keeps going like that I'll be the size of a house soon.

dappymoo · 29/03/2010 11:40

Hmm could be, doc mentioned that it could move as well, I guess I won't know until the next scan really. It wasn't quite as big as baby at last scan but I did think, well no wonder people think I'm having twins!

I'm like this too, 12 weeks and everyone comments on my bump {hmm] However I was also like this with DC2 but I plateaued around 20 weeks then everyone then said how small I was at the end!!!

dappymoo · 29/03/2010 11:49

ah so maybe I'll slow down...

I keep freaking out as am getting married at 8 months...and at this rate...sh**!!!!

Although I did just cheer myself up a bit by googling pictures of other 14 week-ers, some are tiny, but lots are fat like me too!

dappymoo · 29/03/2010 12:08

Aww that's quite sweet!
I've actually got a pregnancy fitness DVD I keep meaning to start, but don't feel well enough at the mo. I wonder if it will help! At least if I have toned arms riiight...?

Hi i am 11 weeks and have a very obvious bump, totally different tp my first pregnancy, but i was larger then and have shifted a lot of the weight in the last year, still shocked at my precious bump x

dappymoo · 29/03/2010 12:35

Yay for early bumps I feel so much better!

Oh I am so glad to read this thread! I too have always had a bit of a belly anyway, but at 12 weeks have just bought some maternity pants and a bump band and they are bliss! Can't understand how I've worn my normal size for the last few weeks as it's been really uncomfortable. I don't know if I'm just 'letting it all hang out' but I am comfy! It seems 'silly' to have a bump so early, but I'm just going to go wiht it I think!

dappymoo · 29/03/2010 20:12

Yay it's so good to know theres more people out there!

Oooh I've been wondering about those bump bands...
I think I was letting it all hang out but now I can't pull it all back in!

me too!! have a noticeable bump at 13 weeks and can't wear work trousers at all! have had to investigate alternatives and am wearing big jumpers to avoid questions from peeps I don't want to know yet! think i am going to live in leggings for the next 6 months! I can't remember being this big so early with dd but it is easy to forget!

dappymoo · 29/03/2010 20:20

Leggings are my best friend at the moment, but am starting to worry about how "professional" I look at work... oh hang on a minute... I don't really care!!

I was big early on with first baby but ended the pregnancy 'neat'.

This time again I am big early on. Only 19 weeks but today TWO separate people asked if I was sure I only had one in there! Cheeky bastards.

As I don't want to reveal the real me (grumpy} have to just laugh along agreeingly "I know I know" through gritted teeth.

dappymoo · 29/03/2010 21:08

Ooh now this could be very good if I do the fat thing now and am "neat" for the wedding...!!

OP posts:
flintski · 29/03/2010 21:59

I think I became 'neat' at about 6 months too - that's when I stopped feeling/looking fat and had a really good bump! I remember people being surprised at 7/8 months that I was nearing the end - lets hope it happens again.

lucylev · 30/03/2010 09:15

I'm getting the is she fat or pregnant look i'm 11 weeks today and am looking forward to having a bump instead of this podgy fat!!

mysti77 · 30/03/2010 12:21

Hey, it was the same as me. This is my first baby and from about 7 weeks I started worrying about the size of my tummy. I naturally carry fat in my stomach and tend to get bloated easily and retain water. I also found googling picutures of other people at my stage made me feel better because then I realised that we all grow at different rates. I was getting so upset because people kept saying I was looking huge for my stage and that I'm going to be massive. Even my midwife commented that I looked 4 weeks more than normal and that if she seen my scan results she'd think I was having twins! But it seems from my scans that my baby boy measures large for the number of weeks, I tend to put on weight in my tummy first (apple shaped),I've got a short torso and prone to being bloated in my tummy. I'd say don't stress over it unless your doctor/midwife has a concern.
