morning all
im 39 weeks , woke yesterday with sharp low pains and tightenings around bump , also a little wet (id say a trickle not a gush)
rang hospital to just ask advice , they asked me to go in .
was monitored twice , baby was happy and engaged
but when they had a look up inside she said that she saw no pooling (i guess that means water coming out )
but then to my surprise she said i was 1cm dilated !
soooo then she tells me to come home and go back today to dau for further monitoring .
i got all excited now the tightenings have near anoth stopped just a lil uncomfortble now.
so please someone shed some light as im a lil lost !, can i be just 1cm for days ?
first baby and midwifes at hospital got a way of making me feel stupid for asking
anyone had the same ??

Hello, How's it going.

For heavens sake ask. Don't feel silly. Your taxes pay for her to answer your questions and if she's not newly qualified, she'll have heard it all before anyway.

I have a mate who was two cm dilated for about a week so I know that can happen. You say a trickle rather than a gush. When your waters go, it feels like a bucketful so I guess this was a little of the "back waters". I had that at about 7pm and my ds was born at 8am next day.

I'm guessing you're quite close now. Good luck.

BTW I was 1cm dilated a few days before I went into labour with my first child. Probably will not be long now but might not be today.

merryxmas you could actually be me, I have had exactly the same as you over the last 2 weeks, although I'm 2cms dilated, was checked/monitored the other night for 'pooling' my waters haven't broken just yet.........just sat at home bouncing on my gym ball hoping that something will happen soon.....

wishing you contraction/labour vibes

yes I know how you feel, I had a real miserable MW on friday night, she made me feel silly for being there even though I was contracting every 5 minutes and they were quite strong, I think part of the reason they stopped was because mini-hoops could sense I wasn't happy so he didn't want to come!!

Even my mother said the MW was a miserable old bat that really shouldn't be there

makes you feel like saying nothing lol
iv had some lovely midwifes that know how to have a laugh
then the strong silent types with faces like slapped arses lol
oh well next time i go im going to ask loads of questions
