ok. we have 10 days til c section for our twins. pretty sure we're gonna call the girl Cecily but still can't decide on the boy's name. I'm expecting some "neither!" answers but somewhere between those we need a decision from you cos we're getting nowhere and they could pop out any day now. Please help!

Edmund, definitely Edmund.

MrsHappy · 26/03/2010 15:29

Edmund.

But have you considered Fabien?

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 26/03/2010 15:34

Edmund - a, because it's less poncetastic, and b, because it goes better with Cecily (which is just a gorgeous name btw).

purpleturtle · 26/03/2010 15:43

I prefer Florian, but together with Cecily I think Edmund actually goes better.

twolittlemonkeys · 26/03/2010 15:48

Edmund. Definitely. Not keen on Florian at all really.

FabIsGettingThere · 26/03/2010 15:50

Why not Edmund Florian NK?

Aubergines · 26/03/2010 15:54

Love Florian. Think it goes nicely with Cecily.

thanks. decision pretty clear so far but husband very set on Florian. will suggest Edmund Florian. (Good job we live in London - if we ever had to move back up to Hull area, are kids will so get beat up)

Which ever you go for I'd get their names down for a poncetastic school while your about it.

LillianGish · 26/03/2010 16:01

you're - should preview!

where is the edit button?
dh says Edmund is 'mock tudor'

CuppaTeaJanice · 26/03/2010 16:04

I actually prefer the sound of the name Florian, but for a name it's a bit, um.....floral.

I'd pick Edmund.

impartialpasserby · 26/03/2010 16:06

i dunno. i think any kid called Florian would be sure to get laid a lot when he grows up. your husband sounds like he's got his head screwed on to me - nice catch. also Edmund is a bit mock-Tudor

hope this helps and good luck

NKffffffffee0f8010X1140828dc0e · 26/03/2010 16:08

that's 2 people used the word 'poncetastic' so far.

that 'impartialpasserby' is quite clearly my dh trying to skew the results - just ignore him people, he thrives on attention.

oooh i like florian!! edmund makes me think of king lear.

btw cecily is fab too!

blackmilkofdaybreak · 26/03/2010 16:15

It's fine to be a ponce, I am one.

I like your name choices. I've always loved Cecily.

I know a (grown up) Florian and love the name. He is German though, what is the origin of the name/is that important to you? Agree with whoever said Edmund and Cecily go together better. Edmund will become Ed.

carolondon · 26/03/2010 16:16

definitely edmund, florian sounds too feminine and flouncy.

NKffffffffee0f8010X1140828dc0e · 26/03/2010 16:19

Don't mind about origin or meaning. After all, Cecily means blind.

I've noticed a bit of confusion as to the pronunciation of Florian.

Most pronounce it with a flat 'o' sound as in Florid. But some English-speakers pronounce a long 'o' sound as in floor-ian.

I like the name though.

frakkinaround · 26/03/2010 16:54

I like Florian although the only 2 I've known have been a drunk German philosopher and a sweet but prim, if that's not too odd to describe a boy, 6 year old. For a match with Cecily I'd say Edmund. Definitely consider Fabian though as I think it sounds really nice with Cecily and is quite similar to Florian.

Cecily just sounds to English to go with Florian hence saying Edmund, but Cecily and Fabian sound quite alternative and um hip? I know what I'm
trying to say...

whippybamboo · 26/03/2010 16:58

Edmund

Threelittleducks · 26/03/2010 18:09

Edmund. It's more manly and he will grow up and have to go to school eventually. Florian will ruin him.
